I have a samsung RV520, and a few days i`ve reinstalled my windows, my mistake was that i`ve forgot that i had the option to Reset Factory Settings from support center and now I started fresh with every driver downloaded separatlly.
I`ve succeded only the Lan, Audio and Nvidia Graphics card to install in any other drivers that i try to install it freezes my laptop don`t know what to do. Samsung Update Plus finds only the touchpad that also has succesfully installed it.
I think that the problem is that i`ve updated the Bios from 02PQ to 07PQ because i`ve never had this kind of problems, the Notebook runed flowless so far. I have the Windows 7 Home Edition bought so i can`t download via SW update ( available for win8 ).

What is the solution in my case ?
    - downgrade the bios ? ( if this how can I achive this )
    - reinstal the windows fresh ( done it 3 times the problem persists )
    - is it possible to in a way get my factory settings back, throw any way ?

Please some thoughts for my problem i`m desperate.

    Much obliged in advance.

    Hello Jafumeu, welcome to NBR.

Unless you deliberately wiped your disk or deleted the Recovery partition, you should be able to load Samsung Recovery by booting F4 and restore to factory from there. Hit F4 2-3 times per second immediately after power on. If you don't catch it the first time, just power off and try again. It may take a few tries to catch it.

Alternatively (if Recovery is lost or broken) you can re-install Windows again, using the EXACT steps in this Win7 install guide (post #40 in that thread, NOT the guides in posts #1 and #2). It looks big, but that's because it covers many different models. It really should be quite easy.

You want to download WiFi drivers before you start installation: you can download them on another computer (or even a tablet or smartphone) then put them on a USB flash drive or memory card. The guide has driver details for models with Intel WiFi adapter. If your model has a non-Intel WiFi adapter (Broadcom or other) you need to download drivers from samsung.com.

Once you have WiFi working (or through a good old LAN cable) you should be able to use SW Update to install everything else. The guide has a download link to it. Letting SW Update do its thing will ensure that the correct drivers get installed in the correct order.

It is possible that the BIOS update you mention caused an incompatibility with the drivers on Samsung's web site (which haven't been updated in several years).

No, SW Update is for Win7 as well :)

It detects the WIndows version and model on which it is loaded and installs the appropriate drivers. A few members have had difficulty getting it to detect their model -- but that was on Win8 and Win8.1.

I`ve tried the F4 thingy and didn`t worked, why ? because i`ve deleted everything because didn`t know what those are and now i regret it badlly.

I remember yesterday i`ve downloaded the SW Update and didn`t found win 7 just Windows 8 apeared ... from there what is to do ? if i reinstal again the windows and detects again windows 8 should i continue to download them and see if it works ?

    Thanks again.

I can't see any Windows 7 drivers / software for any RV520 version in the SW Update database. Only Windows 8 is listed. However, some of the Windows 8 installers, such as Settings, include a Windows 7 version in the same package so it's worth checking them.

There's a set of Windows 7 (and XP) drivers and software for the RV520 here. Get a full set and store them somewhere in case Samsung delete the web page.

John let me make an observation ... I have all the Windows 7 x64 drivers and software for my Samsung RV520 downloaded from the link you`ve listed, the thing is that only 3 of them work ( lan, audio, nvidia + touchpad that Samsung update plus installed it) everything else freezes my laptop ... now i`m reading Dannemand guide that he listen to get familiar with the steps that are kind of basics hopping just to get throw th SW Update and hopping - again - that he finds my Windows 7.

OK, you've been to that link already.

It's unusual that a BIOS update, even if to improve compatibility with Windows 8, would cause such problems with Windows 7, but Samsung have messed things up a few times.

Did you try installing Easy Settings? (In the Windows 8 Settings package). This program does a lot of configuration and might pave the way for the other drivers to install. You can try the guidance in this thread about rolling back the BIOS update.

John is correct, I apologize for the misinformation: It appears that SW Update only lists Win8 drivers for this model. Seeing that the latest drivers on samsung.com are from 2011, I am quite puzzled by that -- and impressed that Samsung supports Win8 on this model.

You can still use the guide, but you will have to manually install the drivers that you downloaded -- in the order listed in the guide. It is important that you install the Chipset driver as the very first, that could solve several issues.

Should i give it a try with the Utility Settings on my current OS to see if it helps with my current problem and if it solves it i will install fresh again the windows ... even if it doesn`t solve it, i will try again, install the windows and install all the win8 drivers and if doesn`t work, i will try the rolling back Bios that John shared with me ( thanks for that ).

    P.S
Guys by any chance can explain why can`t i find this thread on Tapatalk ... and by any chance you guys keep your eyes peal for the next hours to this thread so we can keep in touch ?

    Thanks again to both

Update after downloading the Easy Settings from SW update Win8 and unrar it i`ve seen that are 2 folders 1st-win7 and 2nd-win8, trying to install the kit from win7 freezed up again my laptop :(

Did you get the chipset driver installed? Dannemand was correct in pointing out this as priority.

Otherwise there's the risk that something else was misidentified and wrongly configured.

Sounds like you made it work on that last attempt. Good job! Persistence often pays off!

You can use Partition Image Backups to save (and later restore) the exact state of a partition. That's what users do if they don't have (or don't use) Recovery. I use an old imaging tool from Terabyte Unlimited, but Acronis and Paragon are other popular commecial tools. Clonezilla is a free Linux based cloning tool that comes with LiveCDs/LiveUSBs. One such is Parted Magic (two words). It's free, although somebody is trying to make money off a product called PartedMagic (one word). You don't have to know Linux (much) to use it.

Well i`ve done it installed every driver :) and software ... not like my original device but similar, i`ve succeded to run Acronis, made a 20 gig partition and backupeed on it. The weird was that i`ve tried my best to keep the windows as clean as possible the backup was 12 gig only with the drivers on it, i`ve saw a few youtube vids and some folks had their backups up to 3-4 gig donno the issue here.

And another thing i got my hands on SRS Lab Sound Premium Control Panel and i can`t install it donno why, it says :
I had it on my previous, original and fist installation.

On a typical Windows installation, there will be a large hibernation file (hiberfil.sys) and a large pagefile (pagefile.sys). Unless Acronis cleverly skips those when making the image backup (my imaging tool doesn't) they will inflate the size of the backup. Before imaging, you can disable hibernation ( powercfg -hibernate off from an Administrator Command Prompt) and disable or reduce the size of the pagefile ( Control Panel - System - Advanced system settings - Performance settings - Advanced - Virtual memory Change). But if you can afford to use the space, it's easier to just let it be.

I am afraid I have no experience with that SRS Audio Control panel as it relates to Samsung laptops. If it wasn't in the factory installation, it may not be compatible with your model.

The Srs control it was on factory installation.

If i disable the hibernate will it afect my FastStart (are you familiar with this samsung propriety) if yes then can you help me in another problem, after the reinstall, FastStart worked like this :
When i close the lid it saves the current state and after a few min if opened the lid instantlly openes where i left off now, it works like this :
When i close the lid and try to open it again it instantlly opens the user logoon screen, upon selecting my user resumes last config ( even if i don't have a password set and only 1 user ) wich is annoying. Can i edit this ? A samsung tech told me that the option is in bios... Find this strange nontheless, checked that nothing usefull found.

    Opened for sugestions thanks again

I see. Unfortunately I am not familiar with it. I would expect any audio control panel's to be included with the audio driver package on the page John linked.

Samsung Fast Start itself does not depend on hibernation. In fact, I have never seen Fast Start resume from hibernation on lid open, although other users report it, possibly on models with Intel Rapid Start. ( This post explains the difference between the various fast this and rapid that features on Samsung laptops.)

On all Samsung models that I am familiar with (late 2011 and newer) Fast Start is implemented as part of the Easy Settings package (in Win8 it's called Settings) which bundles several individual utilities delivered with earlier models. The following Win7 utilities on the download page for your model are included in Easy Settings:

    Battery Life Extender
    Easy Display Manager
    Easy SpeedUp Manager
    Movie Color Enhancer
    Samsung Fast Start

Since Easy Settings supports many different models, and is much newer than those utilities on your download page, I would suggest you try and install it instead. Download SW Update (from the same page) and use its Find Model feature to lookup model NP930X5J-S01US, where you will find the latest Easy Settings version 2.0.0.77 under Win7 drivers; then select it (and de-select everything else) and click Export. If that version doesn't work with your model, you can try the older version 2.0.0.48 which can be found in SW Update under Win7 drivers for model NP880Z5E-X03CA. Make sure to uninstall those other utilities and reboot before you install Easy Settings.

The thread linked below contains more information about Easy Settings in general.

Oops! If it works now, even when you reboot (no more blue screens) it may have been just the first initialization that failed. I would run a disk check to make sure there is no file corruption. Also look in Event Viewer if any errors are logged which could be related. Otherwise I would not worry too much -- again, assuming everything works as expected.

Everything works great ... my laptop starts even faster then previous windows and even bether, shuts down more quickly, major improvement.

I have runned a Check Disk everything went smoothly event do it lasted almost an 1 and a half.

Dannemand i`m not very familiar with Event Viewer, but after some quick tutorials i`ve searched my error : 0x0000000A, did i get it right ? ... nothing related, but my Event Viewer is full of Errors, 1 Critical and many Warnings, is this OK ?

    Sounds good :)

One critical Error in Event Viewer is to be expected from the time of that blue screen. If no other errors are logged after that, you're in good shape. Warnings in Event Viewer are fairly common, I wouldn't worry about that.
