I sent a unit in to Samsung for repair at the beginning of April, and was received by them a few days later.

Fast Forward June 15th and still no unit back or word from their Service Center.

Are they like the worst company ever to RMA products with?

That's horrible. I had to send in a pair of Samsung HDDs a few years ago, but the whole thing didn't take more than a couple of weeks.

I sent my Samsung notebook in for warranty service last week. Intelisol (the Fort Worth, TX company that handles Samsung's laptop warranty repairs) received it on Tuesday (6/12), and today I was notified it has been repaired and shipped back. I should have it by next Tuesday or so.

So, in my experience, 2 months is waaaaaay out of line. I would have started asking questions after they'd had it 10 business days, let alone a month.

Is it possible that some customers get better service, depending on the place of purchase? I bought my Samsung notebook through Costco, so I never dealt with Samsung directly. Instead, I called Costco's Concierge tech support service once I verified the machine was broken. They worked out the details. All I had to do was ship the broken computer to Intelisol. Samsung emailed me a prepaid UPS shipping label, shortly after I got off the phone with Costco. I should have the repaired unit back early next week.

Yeah went to Intelisol as well.

Emailed that witch, today. Will see what she'll have to say.

One was sent beginning of April, the other mid May. Hopefully they don't pull a Visiontek on me, where they keep the product and my money, lol.

Seems odd they don't have someone in IL to do official warranty repair. This is what worries me about buying the Series 9 machines.

Where it goes seems to depend on the product line. When I RMA'd those hard drives a few years ago, they went to an address in New Jersey. I can't recall whether it was a Samsung address, or a warranty fulfillment company like Intelisol.

Having a 3rd party contractor handle warranty repairs has been going on forever. When my Nokia monitor committed suicide back in the mid-1990's, I dropped it off at a company in North Carolina, which was not a Nokia facility.

corpses3 - Can you make sure to update this thread when you get news? I'm reluctant to buy/recommend consumer level laptops due to service issues. Samsung seems to have a good reputation in comparison to others, so I'm interested in know about your experience and if Samsung is different from the rest.

Got the April unit back in early July, and the May unit back today ( so late July ).

At least I didn't get Visionteked.

I was aware their monitor RMA was horrendous, now I know their notebook RMA is just as retarded. Luckily these weren't personal machines, as I don't own any Samsung products ( now I remember why ).
