My dad's rc512 hdmi port doesn't work. We tried a variety of resolutions, tried different hdmi cables, even different tv's (we have 2 tv's capable of HDMI) and it doesn't register a single thing.

The port doesn't recognize the tv; we are thinking its the hdmi port. I tried calling Samsung Support and they told me that they aren't sure and that the rc512 WASNT SUPPOSED to have hdmi...

I'm not sure if they are trying to pull a fast one here, but is this something that we have to send it in for?

VGA port works, but HDMI doesn't.

    Any advice?

I presume that you tried (i) having the TV connected when booting the computer and (ii) toggling through the Fn+F4 options.

I tried everything I can think and what the Samsung Tech support guy could think of.

I'm gonna call them tomorrow when I get my dad's laptop and just ask to RMA this. Its like the port is non-existent but its still there..

Exactly which model of the RC512 do you have? Do the advertised specs indicate that it includes HDMI? Also look in the User Guide to see if the HDMI port is an option. It is unusual, but not unknown, for an external port to be provided but not connected.

I have the s02 model and I don't have an owner's manual; bought this from craigslist. Everything else is working perfectly, its just this HDMI port.

when I type in RC512-s02 hdmi port, I just come up with a bunch of other sites claiming that the port works. However when I google RC512 Samsung and go the samsung site, it only shows the S01 model and it doesn't list an HDMI port there. The s02 model is non-existent.

I'm gonna give Samsung Support another call and just see where it goes from there.

I don't know if this will help, but over on the HP forum many were having the same problem and the fix if I remember right had something to do with the Intel graphics control panel, (I wish I would have bookmark that post because I have looked for it many times without luck) why not try to see if there is an update for your onboard Intel graphics @ Intel® Driver Update Utility

P.S. Does your TV have a HDMI mode?

This is utterly weird...I always thought HDMI ran through the dedicated graphics rather than the integrated but holy hell.

    IT WORKS!

    Dude +1 rep for you!

Edit: Whats weird is that this is Intel HD 3000, the previous Intel HD's HDMI perfectly. So why a problem now and why Intel over Nvidia?

If it matters to you, I thought the same as you, but go figure.
