    Hi,

I was wondering if someone could tell me if the Samsung R780 is now discontinued or will be in the near future? Its tended to be out of stock with major retailers (in the UK) with none of them aware of when it will be back in stock. I had heard that Samsung had decided to reverse its earlier decision to discontinue after customer appeals, but I'm wondering if that is it for this particular model.

I've waited ages to get this laptop at the right price and its perfect, but if its discontinued, what is due to replace it? The RF710 is way too powerful for my needs and the R780 was the only other 17.3 inch laptop that filled the mid-low performance gap. I can't see a suitable replacement.

    Can anyone answer?

Thanks....unfortunately those are too powerful and pricey, I was hoping for the i3 version for sub-£600.

They seem to be disappearing fast with no replacement. I wouldn't mind waiting for a R780 replacement, but I can't see one on the horizon and the RF710 is way too powerful and the R730 is old and the design and spec aren't as good as the R780.

I have actually spotted a new 17 inch model on the UK Samsung website. It looks like the R780 successor!!! Hopefully with Sandy Bridge chips as well!
Its got i3 and i5 chips. Its called the RC710. I don't know when it will be in the shops though.
