    Firstly Hi to All o this Forum! you seem a polite and well informed bunch.. :)

    Next, my tale of frustration with a new R70!

    Needing a laptop for all the usual things, I bought (last week) one of these:-
    "NP-R70A007/SUK. Core2 Duo SR T5450 1.66GHz 2x1024MB 200GB"
    Delivered next day, up and running within the hour, (small) C: and (large) D; partitions, wireless working, Vista patches downloaded and installed, all other Microsoft cr*p & trial software UNinstalled, on went Kaspersly, and Ready to go....

    Installed iTunes and copied over a dozen or so albums from an external HDD to the D: partition. Ask iTunes to get album artwork, and once done... err, it's a bit sloooow when viewing the Artwork! ("Coverflow" view). In fact, it stutters when using the normal view to scroll from one album to the next, when switched to Full Screen its appalling. You can actually count the picture refresh rate, it's around 5 frames a second. It's driving me mad!! Here's what I've tried (without success):-

    * Updated Bios & chipset
    * Updated all drivers from Samsung R70 download page
    * iTunes uninstall/reinstall
    * Created New User
    * Moved music to C: partition (defrag etc)
    * Ran full scan on memory (no issues)
    * REimported from original CD
    * Reset Page FIle

    I'd love to know if anyone else with the same model sees the same problem! It's spoiling what should be a beautiful relationship; I'm importing my CD's but do not enjoy the browsing experience! It did occur to me that I may have confused 2d and 3d graphics performance when choosing this machine, however my sisters Dell Inspiron (Celeron M with GMA!) does a far far better job with a screen that's the same resolution!! My Windows Experience scores are:- Proc 4.7, Mem 4.5, Graphics 4.0, Gaming Graphics 4.6, HDD 4.8, and I really don't think I need to start overclocking using RivaTuner in order to get this sorted!

    Thanks for reading/understanding, oh and one last thought, before I go back to the Recovery CD I'll uninstall iTunes again, then sweep registry etc to make damn sure it really *has* gone before trying again. Any other suggestions (very) gratefully received!!

    Best regards, Steve

    I suspect that it is more an iTunes + Vista or possibly Kaspersky AV problem. I presume you have obtained the latest version of iTunes?

    for example, see this thread.

    It is possible that the problem is covered by one of the many Vista hotfixes. Only the critical Vista patches are included in Window updates but you can get everything by installing the Vista SP1 RC from Microsoft. It seems to be pretty stable - I've been running it for about 3 weeks.
