    Samsung R530 BIOS Upgrade Stopped By A/V Midway

    I have just been setting up a relatives new Samsung R530 laptops to replace their old HP.

    All went well, made recovery DVD's, loaded all their photos and files, all windows updates and all samsung updates.

    One item I noted it does not auto install is the BIOS.

    The machine came with BIOS and MICOM 05JD.

    Downloaded the update from their website and ran it to take it to 06JD.

    Off it went as normal but then the Kaspersky A/V decided it was a risk and wanted me to select an action.

    Trouble is the update program stops the keyboard and mouse working so I could not select anything

    I left it for a while and it did half shutdown by pressing the power button but again because no keyboard or mouse I had to force it off.

    Checked the BIOS on startup as it says you should reset default options and save.

    Now the BIOS says 06JD but the MICOM still says 05JD.

    Is this normal or did it only half install the upgrade?

    Running the BIOS upgrade tool again it says "The System BIOS is a newer version than the update".

    Any thoughts? I can't even find an older version of the BIOS to try and false 05JD back on it...

    On further checking and reading this forum I see in the temp folder I have loads of files including the Micom updater but the only sys file is called NewFile.sys and if I select this and Write it says it is the wrong size (it is 33k).

    The Laptop still works okay and I am not even sure if it a issue?
