Read the four threads in the BIOS section here. There's quite a lot to read there but you will get insight into the problems that people have encountered and how, sometimes, they have fixed them.

The R525 is an old notebook but normally the letter code in the BIOS name needs to match to ensure compatibility. The BIOS updater should check this.

I don't think we have any knowledge of BIOS recovery here but there are a few instances of what appeared to be computers bricked by a BIOS update that have been encouraged to come back to life. Whatever people tried is described in those threads.

When you say the latest per samsung's site, where were you looking? When I go to the support page it only shows BiosUpdate.exe for the jv01de.

In the Service manuel it says nera Keyboard but that is not a note on the Motherboard from crisis pin.
    I hope somebody had a similar Notebook which anybody found the boot block Jumper. Similar Notebooks are for exaple: R520 R523 R525 R528 R538 R540 R560 R578 R580 R590
Please post a photo from boot block Jumper when anybody found it.

And please can anybody repair the download links on this post?

Back in the day there were cmos jumpers. More recent systems have either a reset button or you have to remove the cmos battery and power the system fo 20 seconds or so with no other power. I do not think this will help here but it is worth a try as in other than effort it is free to try.

The problem here seems BiosUpdate gave you a false bios to update too and you accepted. There usually is a blind flash process but there you need the rom file which it appears is not being provided by Samsung.

Now on really old systems, pre-set boot option in bios, they had jumpers but that was a while ago. I think I remember as well some older systems that shadowed the original bios to a rom that you could then jumper to load that bios back. I do not think that is the case here either.

That's an almost six year old post, and the rapidshare account where the poster shared these files is probably no longer active. Or the poster removed the files from the account. As mods we have no way to "repair" that. You already posted in that thread, which is your best chance of getting a response to it.

If we have confirmation that the old solutions in that thread still apply to Samsung laptops (of more recent date than 2008) we can include a link in the Samsung forum sticky list.

The important part too is those methods do not include the bios file, you need to rename your rom file to bios.wph. now the method one link worked so some of the files are there. Again the important part is you need the rom extracted from 01pc or a valid bios for the system!

Edit; my suggestion is contact Samsung support, I would suggest chat. In the end ask them about doing a blind bios flash. You may need a system there to get the files and a small usb stick. Probability is they can not help you with this until at least level two support not on the front end representative. Get ahold of the rom file is the most important part.

Also if all you have is a blank screen, no bios etc, none of the methods for a bios will work from other posts other than (and yet again) a blind bios flash! That does seem to be what they primarily are trying to sell but I am not sure with Samsung the key combo's or if they will try other methods.

Edit 2; Even this does not guaranty that you do not just have a fried rom chip, then it all is a hardware issue and replacing the chip. Now that is if that is the only problem too.

From the other post, the link that worked.

    http://www.box.net/shared/j2u98ci67f

Edit 3; Even the first post requires bios.wph so my question is where are you getting the rom to create the bios.wph file since you said that method did not work?

    Hi TANWare,
Thank you for some Information. My original Bios was 01PC.WPH I havve the bios file from the DOS Update CD from Samsung (I have become this CD from Samsung for Upgarding the Bios). This Bios work.
I have download the Crisis disk Tools form here: https://www.bios-mods.com/bios-recovery/phoenix-bios-recovery/
This crisis disk i have use to recovery a Bios on an Samsung R510 from a USB Stick. This model have a boot block Jumper (Jumper that you have to set if you will make a Bios Recovery). I think the most Sumsung Notebooks have this Methode for bios recovery.
I have found the FAQ for the Bios Recovery for the Samusng R510 on a russian site and have translate it with google translater. But for my Model (R525) i do not have found any FAQ for bios recovery.
In the most Forums the People Need to recover his Bios with Samsung Notebooks they Need the boot block Jumper. For Example form Samsung R60, Samsung R510, Samsung R580.
I have use the same USB Stick and i have rename the Bios file to bios.wph. I use a USB Stick while the bios file is too large for a 1,44 MB floppy disk (2 MB). The bios are both Phoenix bios, i mean form R510 and form R525.

I have for my Notebook the Service Manual, int the Manual you can see that this Notebook have a boot block Jumper for Bios recovery.
But you can not see the place from the boot block Jumper. And i do not have any sugation how i can find the place of the boot block Jumper.

In looking I can only find electronic support and they of course do not even mention a jumper block. The other thing is in searching it seems no one has disassembled the laptop either and posted a guide. If they use a jumper block it means there are two copies of the bios, one that you flash and once that is the original put away safely. Not too sure where It would be or the procedure for using it properly to get the safe bios version loaded to the flash bios area.

If you have this too the soft bios recovery will not work as it is hard wired not too.

Could you please post the instruction how to recover a Samsung R510 bios via the crisis recovery connection on the mainboard? I can't find it near the keyboard, it is not labeled. In comparision for the Samsung R60 it is near the memory slots labeld.
