    Hallo

I got a new laptop from Samsung , model R522-Aura it came with a cpu Pentium Dual Core T4200 ,
I asked to SAMSUNG if I can change the cpu with an Intel Core 2 Duo P8400, 2.26 GHz 3MB 1066 , here is a copy of the answer they sent to me :

    thank you for your request.

We strictly recommend not to open the notebook, because this will cause the complete loss of guarantee.
The central processor units build in in our notebooks cannot be removed or replaced without changing the mainboard.

is that true ? of course I can understand I will loose the guarantee but that I cannot change any faster cpus not !! Have the Samsung Laptops a solder cpu on the mainboard ?
    Please any ideas or help...
    best regards

and sorry for my bad english

That replacement isn't much of an upgrade. Just stick with your current CPU and after your guarantee is up, you could open up the thing and check if it is soldered.

It depends on the specific laptop model.

Just keep the guarantee, the CPU upgrade isn't worth it!!

There would be a difference noticable in benchmarks, but in general use it will be the same. I mean it's not worth voiding your computer's warranty; if something breaks, they won't fix it.

I've never heard such an idiotic statement from Samsung, except the CPU and/or the Heatpipe leading to the CPU is soldered onto the mainboard, or somehow fused together. I hope that's not the case, because that would be really awful. The inner component layout would be interesting though...
