Hi, I would love some help with this as its been driving me a little crazy.

My samsung q320 has been a loyal servant this past 3 years and I fear its time to upgrade unless I can get this issue sorted.

A few months ago the screen would go black when it was opened at certain angles and this has progressively got worse. To the point where i've been using it the past week with the screen at the same position - if you moved it, it flickers and goes black and only careful manoevering and a patient touch would bring it back.

It has now however completely gone black so I have hooked it up via hdmi to my tv to write this - not very practical!

I assume its a connectivity issue but don't know if I can sort it myself or if I need to spend £ by taking it to a repair place ...or if I need to give up on it.

Its out of warranty and I have no problem opening it up. Would just like some thoughts on what I should try.

    Thanks in advance.

Trusted Reviews say the display is LED backlit so I would concur with your diagnosis of the connectivity.

I see that used Q320 display cables are available on ebay. However, the challenge is to do the dismantling required for the cable swap.

ok, thanks for for the heads up.

I just took out maybe 25 screws from the bottom and removed a few covers and boards but I couldn't go much further without entering iffy territory. I'll have a hunt for a guide online otherwise I guess that i'll just have to take it in.

Ok I took the laptop to a repair centre and it needs a replacement screen.
Now to find out how easy it would be to replace myself. I'm guessing i'd need some specialist tools. :(

I'm surprised it's the screen itself and not the cable which is the part most vulnerable to wear and tear.

    Its the lcd cable.
Now, its possible to replace. $10-15 for the cable, but It truly is a pain to replace on this model. Mostly because of the window panel infront of the lcd.which collects dust and fingerprint like mad once you have opened it up. You are going to have to open up the entire machine as the cable runs through the left hinge onto the mainboard. You take off the top housing on this one.
These days Samsung give us the entire ASSY on this model If we need to replace It. lcdcable, wlan antennas, lcd, window. But back in 2010 we had to swap just the cables, and It truly was one of the worst jobs you could get.
Also the plastic hinges seem to break alot on opening up. Poor material on this model.

But again, It is possible to do yourself if you take your time and bite your tounge. Let me know if you need a part number for the cable.

If you want to open it up, remove all the screws on the bottom. There are 4 underneath the HDD aswell. After you take off the keyboard there is some blacktape on the topcase. Remove that to unhook the keyboard cable and touchpad cable. There are also two more screws in the topcase which you need to remove, Now you take the top off and you will see the lcdcable on the top left corner, try and power on the laptop and move the cable in the hinge area to see if you get a picture.
