Did anyone try, or was successful in upgrading the RAM in Samsung NP700Z5X to above 12GB?
Given that that one DIMM (4GB) is soldered, I was wondering, if it would work if I replaced the other with a 1x16GB SO DIMM, like this one: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0123BRIDK/ref=psdc_430178031_t1_B01IDFD71M
My own model has the i7-3615QM, listed on ark.intel.com as supporting up to 32GB of RAM, so the CPU should be OK with that. The question is the BIOS and the motherboard...

Hi John, old friend! Thank you for the advice.
I did a bit of more googling, this time specific to Ivy Bridge, and this is what I've found: https://superuser.com/questions/1172769/installed-32gb-ram-and-laptop-wont-boot/1172797#1172797
So BIOS fix would not be enough, unfortunately, the CPU is also missing HW to support it.John Ratsey likes this.
