    Hello all,

i sincerely hope someone is able to help me out here. I have been struggling with my laptop for day's now. Finally I decided to reset my BIOS by removing the battery and the result is that the screen is blank and the laptop does not start anymore.

    Small history
First an sw update caused the Windows8 screen to remain blank and I could see the mouse moving. In save mode tried to find the cause and fix it. Did not work.
Then I changed my BIOS settings and my computer remained in a start/stop loop.
Then I decided to remove the battery and the result has been described above.

Who is able to help me out here finding a solution to get the laptop back working again. ANy help is appreciated.

    Model: NP540U3C-A01NL samsung

    thanks,

    Raymond

I have a different model but had the same symptom of black screen with mouse pointer moving after getting full screen normal login. Also after an SW update about a week ago. I was able to do cntrl-alt-del and bring up task manager and run one of the anti-spyware programs and it found and quarantined Vosteran. After that it booted up fine. Try to run an anti-malware program before going further.

If your computer is pretending to be dead then read this thread.

Or can you get into the BIOS by tapping the F2 key about twice per second immediately after pressing the power button to start the computer?
