    "Griddiness", "screen door effect" are a couple of terms used to describe this type of display. It's a result of the gaps between the actual pixels that emit the light being too big.

    Some displays are worse than others in this respect, and the Series 3 is at the budget end of Samsung's range (but some manufacturer's non-budget machines also have such deficiencies).

    You can try adjusting the gamma setting in the graphics driver properties. I remember doing this for a display where I had this problem and it made it tolerable.
