    Greetings,

Does anyone know where i can find drivers for the Samsung NP-X60Plus (aka np-x60tz02)

I scoured google and the rest of the internet, I found this post in which what brought me here:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/samsung/167858-samsung-x60-vista-drivers-now-online.html

All the links for xp (what i need) and vista are dead. I even went thru Samsung's online live chat/support which was a waste of time.. 2 different reps wanted to get me to use the np-x460 drivers which didnt work and the second said I needed to contact realtek for drivers. I think was totally asinine. (SO much for that desire to buy that new Samsung Charge cell from Verizon)

Further research it could even be soundmax hd hardware.. my device manager doesnt say which as there are currently no sound drivers installed and windows update is zero help. I have windows XP and Windows 7.. but I have no drivers for either and lost my restore discs long ago. :/

ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!

I have rummaged through my old HDDs and have found a set of the X60plus XP drivers from 2007-08.

You can't send me a PM (a minimum of 5 posts are needed as an anti-spam measure) so post your email address here and I'll send you my full collection (>500MB) via wetransfer.com and then delete your address (hopefully before the spammers get it).

Thanks so much! I have spent literally hours on end trying to find them. Its a great laptop and still does it's job well i can seem to part with it.

I have a great spammail to use just for these purposes at gmail dot com.

Thanks so much again! I'll never delete them and they will get filed away on my server for future needs :)

Ok. They are on the way, but will take about an hour to upload.

AFAIK my X60plus is still in service with one of my brothers. However, it's plugged into an external screen because the pixels are a little small for old eyes (1440 x 900 would have been the optimum resolution for this size, IMO).

Thanks for the update. I'm glad we managed to fix this one. It't the folk wanting Vista drivers that I can't help.

Very small for the next couple of months since I'm now somewhere where uploading 500GB could be a challenge.

    Hi bchap,
I hope you've received the data from Drew or John.. In case you received them, can you email me the drivers of the x60plus? I just installed a new operating system and it seems like new versions of drivers are needed to get the graphic card work properbly. Actually I only need the ATI driver for my graphic card (ATI Radeon x1700).
It would be very kind if you send them the asap.
If you don't have them anymore, does anybody else having them? or knowing the right download link? I don't need the drivers for windows xp, but for vista or better for windows 7. Is seems to be impossible to find samsung x60 plus driver for windows xp, but it would be enough to get the ones for windows vista, which I think it would work for windows 7 as well, at least I hope so..
Thanks very much in advance! That would be a great help as I am looking for that driver for a long long time..
    Greetings and a nice evening.
    Joe

I've still got my zip file with the XP drivers but nothing for Vista.

Did you check if the built-in Windows 7 driver recognises the ATI GPU? There is often significant backwards compatibility. However, the X1700 wasn't widely used.

Hello, thanks for you answer.. My windows 7 recognizes my graphic card as a VGA graphic device but not as ATI radeon x1700 as it should be. I tried to use the win xp driver but that causes problems as the operating systems gets slower and nothing else changes..
I need the ati driver for windows 7 for the aero effect and for getting FN+F4 (external sceen) working. I sure that somewhere in the huge world wide web this driver is available... BTW: The modder method is a bad solution as my Operating system was crapped and I had to reinstall windows 7..
I am thankful for any Ideas..

It might be worthwhile looking for the drivers for other members of the same family (see this notebookcheck page). The slightly newer X1800 and X1900 are more likely to have the Vista drivers.

Samsung used to have the drivers at samsungpc.com (which was maintained by their UK support people) but that site has gone.

Please report back if you find something that works.

Finaly! I found it! A windows 7 driver for a ati radeon x1700 card! I knew it!

Anyway, i really spend many days from the morning untill the evening searching... I even called samsung (the brand of my laptop) and I also called amd. In the first case I reached a man who said with a loud voice: "There is absolutely no win7 driver for your card and there is absoluty nothing you can do!". The second case. The man from amd said "No sir, there is no driver, your card is too old and there are only two possibilities: Wether you reinstall win xp or you buy a newer laptop". What? Buy a new laptop? I have a samsung x60plus from 2007 with a double core, 4 GB Ram and it has a great design! Why in the world should I do that?
A bit disapointed I started a big adventure in google search and after many many hours and days.. VOILA---->
    http://fichiers.touslesdrivers.com/26248/9-8-mobile_legacy_vista32-64_dd_ccc_mod.zip
The name of the file is: 9-8-mobile_legacy_vista32-64_dd_ccc_mod.zip And it works also for win 7 not only for vista.!!!
It is actually a modded driver but it works perfectly and there nothing I can complain about it !!!! All the features like linking an extern screen and choosing many resolutions and others... are working.. And btw. take my advice: If you are not an expert don't mod a driver by yourself, but search and download one which is already modded
Now, there nothing left to do for me than wishing you a lot of fun and notice: By downloading the file don't be suprised about the download speed. It isn't your connection but it's probably the slow server..

    Greets!

    Thank you for this update.

BTW, my old X60plus is still in service with a brother. He uses it with an external monitor. I wouldn't recommend the internal display to anyone with aging eyes. It was quite a dim display when new and the CCFL backlights get darker as they age.

    Hi John,

I am working for years now with my x60plus and I never had problems with my eyes. In some forums there was mentioned that the display a bit dim but that can be compensated by for example setting a lower resolution or/and by increase the light intensity of the room, which is better for the eyes anyway.

The laptop device in general is really tough and I never had problems even though I used it almost everyday since I bought it. Other Laptops of my friends aren't that robust as they complain about a not working display or a not booting hardware. I do not intend making publicity but I have nothing to complain about samsung devices as well as my smartphone.

    Regards,

    Faris
