Does anyone have access to the service manual, or experience replacing the keyboard, for Samsung Chronos 7 series (NP700Z5AS04US) or similar computer? I'm comfortable taking the base off, but it appears that the motherboard and everything will have to be disassembled to access it.

If you are in North America you can purchase the service manual from samsungparts.com.

Thanks, John. I had previously spoken with a representative from samsungparts.coms and after a long wait they weren't sure if it provided instructions or just a list of components. Thankfully, it's not terribly expensive; although I do wish they offered the electronic document as a download rather than having to ship a USB drive loaded with the document.

I love the integrated keyboard appeal, but this is clearly one downside to that approach. What's frustrating is that only one key is not working (F8). I was hoping someone here had advice on how to gently kick it back to working order.

I agree that this keyboard design (which gives better rigidity in less thickness) is a step backwards when it comes to maintenance. Is your F8 key loose, or just not working properly? People have suggested trying to clean under the key caps using a paint brush. If there is another key that you rarely use then you could try remapping your keyboard, although that may not intercept any Samsung-specific function.
