Hi just got a new np7005za-s04us and I have a couple issues. I noticed that my monitor has white specks all over the screen. This is especially noticeable when my laptop is at around a 90 degree angle. If I tilt it back it goes away, but the ideal angles which I use my laptop results in this problem. Also my laptop's battery makes a weird noise...It sounds similar to a computer reading a cd. Also, sometimes when my laptop is connected to the battery the fan starts to make significant noise (not extremely loud, but as if it's running multiple programs when I'm just browsing the internet). I've looked on the forums and I couldn't find people with similar problems. Any help is greatly appreciated!

White specks? Can you take a picture of the screen for us to analyse?

RE: the fans. When I plug mine in, it will spin up the fans noticeably compared to on battery power doing the same tasks. I assume this is because charging the battery makes it hotter so the fans spin up a bit.

Fan speed is normally controlled by CPU temperature. Battery charging shouldn't create significant heat and will stop once the battery is charged.

I wonder if your different mains and battery power profiles are affecting the CPU and/or GPU speeds and more speed means more heat = more fan. Install HWiNFO32 and look at the CPU speed graphic while running on mains and then on battery (while giving the computer some work to do in each case - eg run wPrime).

Possibly related to the profiles, haven't really looked into it tbh cause I'd rather the fans spin up whilst charging to keep it cool and reduce any damage. If I enable the slow spinning in easy settings, it goes just as silent as if on battery power, but i'd prefer to ensure its kept cool. Mostly I charge it when hibernate/asleep anyway as the battery life is generally good enough for me to go the day for my use.

the fan isn't really an issue anymore and the battery i've gotten used to. but the screen keeps having the same problem. i can't really take a picture because my camera phone doesnt capture the specks. i guess i'll just take it to best buy...

You don't happen to live near San Mateo do you? My first one was supposedly delivered to my house but never actually made it - or was picked up by someone within an hour of it being delivered.

Something like that. Fedex said it was left at the front door but I have my suspicions it never even made it to my street. The house was occupied at time of supposed delivery. At any rate, I got a credit for it and ordered another one. Your mention of craigslist reminded me that for a week or two I would watch it thinking the laptop might show up there.
