I've been getting an error code 0 xa 00000001 on my samsung laptop running a SSD with windows 8.1 about once every two weeks lately, usually while running my Adobe CS6 program. The computer suddenly shuts down, and while rebooting gives me that code. I can't remember everything it says as I only had time to scribble the code number. Can't be memory as I'm running 16GB DDR3 1600 memory. The control panel/system specs shows 16GB too.
Googling doesn't come up with anything... closes it gets is 0xc00000001, but 0 xa 00000001 is exactly what I'm seeing on the blue screen while it's rebooting and repairing.
    Here is my notebook specs:
    Samsung ATIV Book 6 NP680Z5E-X01US - Intel Core i7 3635QM
    16GB DDR3 1600 memory - Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5" SATA III SSD
4TB WD Passport external Drive via USB - 1GB AMD Radeon 8770M
    + Switchable Graphics - touchscreen panel 15.6 inch 16:9 - 1920x1080
    Windows 8.1 x64

    Later Yesterday,
Something not good is going on. Yesterday alone, I had the shutdown mentioned above, AND it froze on me twice and I had to hold the power button down to shut it off as the 3 finger bit didn't work. Stayed froze. All three times I was using my Adobe CS6 program when it happened.

Don't know if this would be because of my SSD? In the past with SSD's if it was anywhere close to 3/4 full, they would slow down and cause problems. Mine has 115GB used space and 93GB free space, so it's approaching 3/4 full.

    Anybody???

    Hi Jack,

I did see your posts in the ATIV Book 8 thread, which I now deleted per your request. I'm afraid I don't have suggestions off the top of my head.

Give it a couple days to see if others have suggestions. Patience is needed in the Samsung forum.

I wouldn't mind if you post again in the Book 8 thread with a link to this one. In case one of the owners who subscribe to that thread should see it and have ideas.

OK. I'll post over there and link to here. Not many Samsung owners huh? Too bad as like Samsung laptops. I've had 4-5 over the past 10 years.

GPU-drivers2.jpg OK, over at the Samsung Community site:
    https://us.community.samsung.com/t5...1-shutting-down-on-me-lately/m-p/252126#M1870
It said it's either a driver problem or GPU going bad. I hope it's the driver problem.

Also asked for the dump files/.dmp so how or what program do I open it to read them? When I use notepad it gives a bunch of gibberish. There were five files:

I did update my old drivers (which said was best driver when I checked properties) which was a 2013 version to a current driver version: 22.19.171.1024 7/4/2017. I don't know why it said it's the best verison when it's five years old!

I hope that solves the problem and it's not a GPU going bad. It will take a few days to see if I have any crashes.

OK, that didn't work. I didn't have any crashes when using Adobe CS6, but whenever I went to shutdown or restart, it would freeze after a bit and I'd have to hold down the power button to reboot. Did this several times, always rebooted, programs worked fine, but freezes every shutdown. So I rolled back the driver and it didn't freeze anymore. Next I tried the next older dated driver and the same thing happened. So I rolled back again. 2015 drivers are way to old, is there any newer drivers that will work?

    AMD Radeon HD 8700M Series

    Driver Date: 8/30/2013
    Driver Version: 13.152.0.0

    New that didn't work:
    Driver date: 7/4/17
    Driver Version: 22.19.171.1024

Next older driver dated 3/3/17 that didn't work:
    whql-win8.1-64bit-radeon-software-crimson-relive-17.4.4-may3.exe

Here is how I finally solved the GPU driver problem. It was obvious I couldn't do it with Win 8.1 as Microsoft doesn't support it anymore, so I'm forced to migrate to Windows 10, which I tried to do three times before, but it froze at 78%. So I gave up until now...
However, I've gotten Windows 10 installed with the current drivers and everything updated. The reason I couldn't get past 78% while trying to install Win 10 before was I was doing it from upstairs via wireless connection. This time, I was downstairs plugged into the ethernet port and turned off the firewall. Worked like a charm this time. Strange, the driver for intel is dated 8/17/15 while the AMD driver is dated 9/22/17. But much better than both original drivers dated 2013 before in Win 8.1
Here is the screenshot when I was done:

    Well done!

I am glad to hear you were able to solve it. And thank you for posting the details here -- and here in the ATIV Book 8 owner's thread.

Let's close this thread now and avoid further cross posting. Any follow up or future questions about this should be posted in the owner's thread.

Arguably individual threads like this are better for Google indexing of a specific problem, but as you found, there is simply more traffic in the owner's thread when it comes to older models.
