What are you going to buy?

I'm looking for a good mini mouse and case or back pack.

A shoulder case might be in the works.

If I buy one, I would get one of those laptop sleeves and a blutooth mini mouse. Maybe even the razer gaming blutooth mouse. My swissgear backpack has a laptop pouch and it works very well; I highly recommend it. Laptop sleeve + backpack = pretty good protection.

First accessory? An extra power cord to store in my carry bag.

Seriously, this is one of the cheapest ways to improve the user experience greatly. When it's time to pick up and go, you don't have to fish under a table to get to your powercord, you simply slip your lappie into a bag and you're done.

Where did you get the extra power cord? I am not able to find one on Samsung's or Amazon's site? Anyone have any suggestions on a docking station?

Most likely the PSU is shared with some other Samsung products. Have you searched for the PSU model number?

i looked around for various slim sleeves because i will probably carry around my 13" series 9 in my purse. check out amazon or etsy.com for macbook air sleeves. I really liked the leather manila envelopes and the twelve south zipped hardcovers. however, i ended up going the cheap route - an athletic sock inspired drawstring sleeve by OGIO.

    I have the following accessories:

    Newegg.com - Everki Black Commute 13.3" Laptop Sleeve w/Memory Foam Model EKF808S13
Great sleeve. Fits perfect, nice and tight. I like the front pocket that carries the dvd drive, charger, usb drive, etc. It also has handles you can pop out to carry around.

Newegg.com - SAMSUNG USB 2.0 Slim External DVD Writer (Black) Model SE-S084D/TSBS
Works with just one usb port.

    Newegg.com - Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000
Paired it once and we are good to go. No dongle or used usb port which is nice.

    Newegg.com - Patriot Supersonic Magnum 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model PEF128GSMNUSB
Great super fast usb 3.0 read/writes! Nice until I can get my hands on a 256GB mSata drive. It is slim to which means you can have the laptop on a flat surface and plug this into the usb3.0 slot and the laptop is still nice and level! 128GBs extra storage, super fast, and ultra portable, just don't lose it, 3 bills!

    Newegg.com - SABRENT USB-2011 USB 2.0 to DVI/HDMI/SVGA Display Adapter (2048x1152)
Picked this up since there was no VGA options for this laptop but looks like a cable may be out now from samsung. Check the forum for the VGA thread, I will update it once I get the cable. This usb to vga works perfectly fine with little to no footprint (plug and play) and fits nicely in the sleeve above.

    Javy,

    Good list.
    1. Sleeve. That one is sold out at Newegg but it looks more like a case. I'm still looking for sleeve (no handles, no pockets) that works well with a tight fit.
    2. Mouse. I went with the Orochi Razer because it's all black. I might get a an new bluetooth mouse later if one comes out that's smaller than the Orochi or Microsoft.
    3. DVD drive. I found that I do not need that. I went with a Western Digital USB 3.0 1TB drive instead.
    4. USB drives. I have not bought a USB 3.0 flash drive yet. I have a USB 2.0 one similar to the one that you have but that is too fat -- it raises the edge of the Sammy.
    5. Samsung VGA adapter. I bought one and they seem to be readily available.
    6. Alfa USB wireless adapter. I'm going to keep looking for a bluetooth-driven wireless adapter. I hate having to commit the scarce USB ports.
    7. Lexar MicroSD 32GB Class 10 card. I haven't actually received this yet and still have to test it to see if it's better than the Class 4's that I have.

FWIW, I use a short cable to connect the USB drive to the laptop because, you are right, most drives are too fat.

Try sfbags.com - I had one for my Vaio and LOVED it! I haven't ordered one for my Series 9 because I am not sure if I am keeping it or not. They are bit pricy but worth the $$ and have so many options.

They ARE a bit pricey. What makes them worth the price?

We'll first off they are made in the USA that alone to me is worth the price! Second they are TSA approved, which is a big deal for people like me who travel a lot. The sleeve I purchased from them for my Vaio still looks like new! Its not falling apart and overall it has a nice feel to it, perfect amount of pad vs weight/protection. The nice thing is all the options you can get with them. I dono its worth it to me. I mean is a $50-$100 sleeve really costs too much when we pay so much for these laptops? I would rather buy one sleeve and have it last the life of my laptop than a bunch that are junk! Plus its custom made to fit the Series 9!

Good idea. I have one of those short cables too but it's USB 2.0 extension.

I've just bought one for USB 3.0. Shortest I could find was 1.5 ft.

Aren't the two USB ports pin compatible? If so, won't any USB cable work? I guess I just assumed that the stuff that makes a USB 3.0 different is in the electronics, not the plug.

At the moment, I only have USB 2.0 things so it is a moot point, but if we do indeed need a special cable for 3.0, will you let us know where you find one?

    Cheers!

Looked it up. You are right; the new USB standard is downward compatible, but has more pins.

from: Maximum PC | Everything You Need to Know About USB 3.0, Plus First Spliced Cable Photos

"USB 2.0 cables worked off of four lines – a pair for in/out data transfer, one line for power, and the last for grounding. USB 3.0 adds five new lines (the cable is noticeably thicker), but the new contacts sit parallel to the old ones on a different plane, as opposed to being adjacent to them. This means you’ll be able to differentiate between 2.0 and 3.0 cables just by looking at the ends."

Amazon has them for sale. For example, see:

Amazon.com: USB 3.0 Male to Female Cable 1.5m 5ft (Backward Compatible with 2.0): Electronics

I purchased a bag from them years ago for my iPhone and all it's accessories. It still works and looks brand new. They make good products.

I ordered (from eBay) and received a Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 64GB (USB 3.0) for an excellent price of $110.

It's interesting that it actually comes with a short adapter for USB 2.0 compatibility. You have to plug it into two USB 2.0 ports.
