hey guys ive had the laptop for about a day now, and i have a problem with the screen brightness. every time i set the brightness for plugged in mode and battery mode it always gets changed upon a restart. Also now when i plug in the laptop the screen doesn't go brighter than battery mode. Is this an issue that is common like the switchable graphics? somebody please help me!

i just found out it happens when you tilt the screen or laptop away from you it gets brighter but when you tilt it back towards you it gets darker. i am starting to think its a feature? also my brightness settings never save after a restart which is really annoying to have to set it every time the computer boots up. please tell me if you guys have had this happen to you. thanks

if it's changing depending on how open it is, it could be the adaptive brightness. Disable adaptive display in easy settings | display | screen brightness | use the auto brightness control depending on the ambient illumination. The ambient sensor is the dot to the left of the hard drive activity LED. For me, just using home/end/delete would cause the screen to dim because my hand cast a shadow over the sensor.

Sounds like his sensor is just getting more light and adjusting it automatically as you say.

I'm pretty sure someone reported a similar issue in one of the other multi-page owner's lounge threads.

I found the solution fairly easy, all you need to do is hold Fn and press F1 make sure all other programs are closed. It takes a second to load, first go to display settings under screen brightness, unclick the check mark next to on battery and plugged in. Then all you need to do is exit.
