It appears to me that Intel ssd's are not compatible with the Samsung NC20 because there is no 12volt power on the SATA connector.
I have tried an Intel S3500 ssd and and an Intel S3700 ssd. Neither is detected by the NC20.
Normal boot shows
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable.
The BIOS hardware info, after pressing F2, says no harddrive.
The ssd's work in other computers.
I have tried with BIOS version 07MQ, 09MQ and 10MQ.
I have tried BIOS default settings.
The Hitachi harddrives need 5volt 0.7Amp. The intel SSD's need 5volt 1.44Amp
and 12volts 0.6amp
I have checked the SATA power connector with a voltmeter. There is
3.3volts and 5.0volts but zero on the 12volt pins.
It appears to me that Intel ssd's are not compatible with the Samsung NC20.
I expect that no other drive that needs 12volts will work either.
I really wanted an intel ssd for better reliability.

Normal 2.5" (and smaller) drives didn't need 12V. That's why it is possible to put them in an enclosure and run them from the USB port, which provides only 5V.
However, you are trying to install an SSD designed for use in servers in data centres and it may have different hardware requirements although the product specification says 5V or 12V. It also has much higher power consumption than an SSD intended for notebook usage.
