Is it eay to replace the 750gb HD with a SSD?

Can I just install a 256gb Crucial and use the restore disc to put the OS back on?

You wouldn't be able to use a restore disk on a new drive as far as i know.

Running an agility 3 with the AS ssd benchmark I get 458, seems to be pretty quick to me.

How would I do this exactly?

Put the SSD in a USB caddie like this :-

    Akasa Integral S 2.5" USB 3.0 Enclosure. [AK-ENI2U3-BK]

Then would I clone the HD to the SSD then put the SSD into the Laptop?

Whats the best software to use?

Would the difference in size between the two discs matter?

Once I've got the cloned SSD in the laptop would the Restore disc work on the SSD if the OS screws up?

i always use seagates program i forgot what it is called exactly but no the difference in size does not matter
the cloning software will resize it to whatever size you like

    and

yes theoretically the new ssd will function just like the original drive(of course it will be faster because it is a ssd)

i cloned my hdds before and the new drive functioned just like the old one
i dont see why the recovery disc wouldnt work on the ssd but i could be wrong

you dont know till you try? just be sure not to wipe the original drive before you confirm that the ssd is perfectly working

You an use the restore disk just fine on the new drive, that's what I did. I removed the 750gb and put in my ssd, used their win7 restore disk (no drivers).

The hard part is, they just give you win7 on the restore cd, it's not really like a traditional restore. You then need to go get the drivers from samsungs site, all is well. works fine.

That's not using the restore disk :p

@jlrosine is the 'restore disk' actually a restore disk, or just a win7 disk?

Sorry to invade your thread but I've just got my Series 7, also got an Intel 320 with it and I've used the restore disc to install fresh win7 but it's got no drivers. Is there any correct order I am meant to install the drivers in? or is it just chipset then everything else?

    Thanks

Can't you just make restore disks if the provided ones have nothing?
