I have recently purchased a laptop Samsung rf511 that comes with the NVidia Gt540m Optimus CRAP !

It does not work for many programs.Setting manually DOES NOT WORK either.

Nvidia Optimus system is a RIP OFF ! & NVidia does not give A DAMN for their customers.

NVidia : NEVER AGAIN! & be sure I will not spare my efforts to spread the word !

Personally I use the Intel graphics and avoid all the switchable graphics problems. However, I'm surprised to read you grumbling about Optimus which, from what I've read on these forums, is a lot more mature than AMD's alternative.

I suspect that the many people who have no difficulty with Optimus will be wondering if this is a PBKAC problem. Might you be one of the people contributing to this thread in another forum?

Why do you need a machine with switchable graphics if you only use the Intel board ? To " avoid all the switchable graphics problems".

    Are there problems?Really?

    That´s a kind of a stupid attitude.

The FACTS are that the Intel is not sufficient to run a lot of programs & that the manual settings to use the dedicated board DO NOT WORK AT ALL for some programs.

For someone who has purchased a laptop BECAUSE of the dedicated board to be used when I want it to be used, that´s hard to swallow.

Once again, at least till NVidia gives us a solution, Optimus continues to be a huge piece of CRAP & a RIP OFF.

Intel graphics also uses less power and produces less heat. For me it is fine. A dedicated GPU only gives benefits for 3D rendering, which I don't usually need to do.

Thanks for your useless & self centered contribution.
For your information, some people do use &/or need to be able to use the dedicated card whenever they want.
