I'm just worried that the i7 is going to add a bunch of obnoxious fan noise like pretty much all the i7's options out right now.

I have just got the RF510 (i5 version) and can't hear a peep out of it. I hate laptop fan noise with a passion. Are you expecting the i7 version to have additional cooling?

Seems to run very cool too although I always use a laptop cooler these days after coming unstuck a couple of times with laptops overheating and possibly/probably shortening their lives.

Been using this for over a week now and it does not even get warm after being on all day. How have they managed this I wonder and kept it so quiet.

Only downsides I can find are lack of esata and the speakers are not too clever but as I mostly use my Pure Evoke-3 (digital radio) aux input for sound this is not such a big issue (for me).

Nope, don't do any gaming. With my last two notebooks though, a Dell precision m2300 & the Samsung Q320 my all day usage used to cause them to heat up quite a bit and thats just with web, streaming video and other misc graphics applications (stock market charts and multiple stuff going on in several windows). This just feels only very very slightly warm to the point of being hardly noticeable unless you really feel around under there. Oh eh.. :p

This is a major plus point for me as I don't have to drag the Zalman Notebook cooler around the house with me. Although I still use that when static at my desk.
