The DVD drive on my new R710 keeps disappearing, if I do a system restore it reappears and works fine, I've yet to figure out what I'm doing to make it vanish, anyone out there had a similar problem and found the solution?

My first thought is to (re)install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager (assuming you have a SATA optical drive).

However, you could first check the power management setting to see if there is an option to switch off the optical drive when running on battery.

You should also be able to get the ODD back by going to the top of the list in Device Manager, right clicking and select the Look for New Hardware option.
