I just installed the Samsung driver:
    External_VGA_64bit_8.16.11.8911

    They also have the
    Win XP / Windows 7 Jul 5, 2010 BIOS (Firmware) (ver.11JB) 3.93
    and
    Windows 7(32bit,64bit) May 2, 2011 Chipset (Driver) (ver.9.1.1.1025) 2.67

Should I install these too? Any real improvements?

I would expect the BIOS update to include some fixes to problems. The chipset update may fix some bugs or add functionality or it may be just an update that supports some additional hardware.

I'd like some feedback from any R580 owners that have actually updated their chipset and firmware.

    Did you see any improvement?
Any chance of messing up the computer?
Any particular way of installing these?

Other than the minor display glitches I had, which I fixed with the updated driver, the notebook has performed flawlessly.
So I want to know if I really "need" the chipset & firmware.
