It looks like a great notebook - and I'm seriously considering getting one.

It'll spend much of its life connected to the 22" Samsung SM-226BW LCD on my desk.

I just want to check that the Q35 can output at 1650 x 1050 to an external monitor? (obviously I realise that the Q35's own screen can't display that resolution)

    Thanks.

I think the resolution depends on the monitor that support it? Im not too sure but i can go upto 2048 by 1536 on my 19inch samsung external monitor from my x60 plus which im pretty sure it cant provide on its own.

The graphics card on the Q35 should be able to support 1650 x 1050 on an external monitor.

Disabling "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" on my Q35 reveals a maximum supported resolution of 1920 x 1080 at 32 bit colour. However, the resolution options available by default include 1400 x 1050, 1600 x 900 and 1600 x 1200, but there's no trace of 1680 x 1050. However, I'm sure that I got my Q35 to display OK on a Samsung 1440 x 900 TV/monitor, so it must have added the required resolution when it detected the external device.
