    Hi!
I downloaded new bios for Q310 but I cannot install it. I have Vista x64. It says, after starting, after finishing file extraction that:

    "Loading driver failed.
    Restart system."

I think the problem might come for two reasons:
    a)x64
    b)no Samsung programs installed

Hence the question arises - what to do to update the bios properly? Or maybe somebody could provide me with the new bios in the "raw" version, just to be flashed "normally"?

    Thank you for help!
    Best regards,
    Theriel

Yes, I suspect that BIOS update program and Vista 64 don't agree.

I suggest that you contact Samsung support and find out if CD or DOS versions of the BIOS updates are available. They were provided for previous models. see, for example, this list for the Q70.

I did contact them but I am not expecting much help, though...

Maybe some of you could install the new bios on Q310 and then dump it, please?

Or maybe there is some way of tracing where the installer extracts the bios image before it shows the error?

    Hi.

does Samsung recovery solution work in vista64 , if it does make a backup of your vista64 , and restore to the birthday image , do the flash and then restore back to vista64.

    Regards

    John.

Heh, Tinderbox, there is always the option to set up Vista 32 just to flash the bios ;) but... you know, I am here looking for the quickest method (i.e. simply obtaining the image of the bios to flash it directly, like in old good days).

Ehhh and it was enough for the producer to provide updating program AND image of the bios. Separately.

    Best regards,
    Milo

    Hi.

Is there any particular reason you want to update your bios, I have done 4 updates on my Q210 and i have not seen any difference.

Plus if you did get a bios .rom file , I would be very wary of using it and turning your Q310 into a big paper weight.

I suggest you contact Samsung for a dos based updater.

    Regards

    John.

I contacted them, the seem not to be very helpful and keep repeating like a mantra "Samsung do not supply or support 64 bit operating systems and as a result do not produce 64 bit drivers or software". I sent them another e-mail stating what I think about it. We'll see...

Well, the reason is very simple - there seems to be some problem with ACPI tables, I was hoping that it was repaired - many linux distros simply reboot on loading.
