Hi
I've decided I'm gonna buy one of these laptops. I went into a John Lewis earlier today to check it out, and I was very impressed. I'm a bit confused though.
I was aware that there are two main versions - FSS0UK & AS02UK.
However, the version in John Lewis was a FSS1UK. The description card stated that this version has integrated Intel graphics (rather than Nvidia) - BUT the actual model on display had an Nvidia sticker on it and was running Nvidia drivers. I checked the model number on the base of the laptop and it was definitely FSS1UK.
I've had a look for this model online, and a lot of places are describing it as having the Intel graphics - but a few state it has Nvidia.
I'm completely confused. If anyone knows any better I'd be very grateful.

The stickers on the notebook should be right but Samsung have been known to get the product specs wrong.
I suggest you send an email to Samsung support using the link on the FAQ support page and ask them to check.
Which GPU do you want? Intel for best battery time or nVidia for better 3D graphics performance.

Hey John
Thanks for the link. I'm definitely going to go for the Nvidia graphics - so I'm hoping that's what this model should have. I'll mail Samsung and see what they have to say.
I was initially going to go with the AS02UK, but this model (FSS1UK) is so much cheaper than the AS02UK (nearly 200 quid).
As far as I know, the main differences are a slower processor, no 'n-class' wifi, a 160GB 5400rpm HD and 2GB of ram. So I thought I'd suffer the slower processor and lack of n-class wifi - and spend 90 quid on a decent 250GB 7200rpm hard drive and 4GB of ram.
But then part of me thinks that the 2.26Ghz processor and faster bus speed might be a worthwhile investment...
What do you think? -

The RAM and HDD are easy upgrades. The main cost component is probably the CPU. The P series have both a lower maximum power and lower idle power consumption so should help to stretch the battery time. However, if you prefer the nVidia GPU then maximum battery time can't be top of your agenda.
Performance wise, you wouldn't notice the difference between 2GHz and 2.26GHz. Come to think of it, I can't see any difference in the performance of my NC10 and my E6400 when it comes to visiting this forum.
