I have done a fresh install of Windows Vista Home Premium on my Q45 Danyal. I was under the impression that all the Q45s have Bluetooth, am I right? I am asking because nothing shows up in the device manager. And when I try and install the Broadcom drivers from the Samsung homepage I get a pop-up window saying "Please turn on or plug in your Bluetooth device in order to continue installation". Does anyone have any ideas?

The specs here for the Danyal suggest that it should have Bluetooth.

Do I understand that you have no unidentified devices in Device Manager? Is the wireless switched on or off? Somewhere there should be facility to turn off the Bluetooth ot save power and I recall that on some notebook I used the Bluetooth shared the wireless switch. I don't think the Q45 has a separate Bluetooth switch. Also check the options in the BIOS.

Wireless is on (I am connected to the LAN via wireless) since I see the little blue wireless symbol on the front of the laptop. In the BIOS there is no mention of Bluetooth, there is only a point to enable wireless, which is enabled.

In the device manager there are indeed NO unidentified devices. That is why I am VERY confused. Unfortunately I don't remember how it was before I reinstalled Vista, whether the little Bluetooth symbol was ther in the Vista taskbar.

Is there some way to make Vista look for new hardware? I know how to do that in XP but couldn't really find anything in Vista. Or maybe someone out there has another suggestion?

You can scan for new hardware by right-clicking on the top item in Device Manager and selecting "Scan for hardware changes".

One other thing you can check, if you still have the box, is whether on the label which summarises the hardware, there is "+BT" after the wireless device ( after COMMUNIC). That's what I noticed with my Q35 and X60 plus.

    I'm short of other suggestions.

I didn't have time to scan for hardware changes yet but I did look at the box and it didn't have a "+BT" listing. Maybe I got the only Q45 Danyal in the world without Bluetooth. :-( I might break down and actually call Samsung about this just to get the "officia" word on it.
