Ok, it's June 20. Let's do this.

With Samsung hosting the event today, does this mean the new products will be available to purchase already in the UK (or any other country) in the next few days ?
Samsung Series 9, i7, 15 inch, 8GB ram, 512 GB SSD ------->
Fingers crossed, doesn't seem too much to ask for given that this laptop is already avilable in Germany, Austria, Hong Kong and India. I hope my wishes come true and this version becomes available in the UK so I can finally order it !
Been waiting too long for this already. -

The new Samsung XP941 delivers a level of performance that easily surpasses the speed limit of a SATA 6Gb/s interface. Samsung XP941 enables a sequential read performance of 1,400MB/s (megabytes per second), which is the highest performance available with a PCIe 2.0 interface. ... That is ... more than 2.5 times faster than the fastest SATA SSD. -
-
-
Looks like the next release still will have only 4GB of RAM... :sigh:
Google Translate -
Ative 9 plus ?!?!

Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus and ATIV Book 9 Lite hands-on -
So a half pound more for the touchscreen. Thanks I really needed that.

I checked all the news pages....
QUESTION: NO new 15-inch Series 9 / Ativ 9 Model?????
The 900X4-Series is out of stock and out of production... So there is now replacement??? -
-
I want a 13 inch with 1080p with no-glossy screen and AT LEAST 8GB Ram and i7....
And now.. Glossy screen, 3200x1800pixel which is really dumb if you use Windows Apps which are not optimized for dpi-changes (Photoshop etc) and built-in and not-changeable 4GB RAM. -

Does Samsung ever announced a new notebook model outside an official event like the one in london? So is there a 15 inch model maybe announced in the next few days? -

Some model numbers (from here):
Book 9 Lite: NP905S3G / NP915S3G
Book 9 Plus: NP940X3G
Book Q (the convertible): NP980Q3G
The 9 Plus is already appearing in etailer listings (see this) so shouldn't be too far away. However, all those pixels don't compensate for only 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD. It's also put on weight relative to the Ivy Bridge X3s. Some of that weight is probably for the bigger (55Whr) battery.
John -
let alone the 20% weight increase -
I am very disappointed about the absence of a 15-inch matte display model with 512GB SSD.
I agree with John on the pixels - 1080p would have been fine.
PS:
With neither product yet priced, a Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus release date has so far been pegged only as ‘later this year’. The Book 9 Lite is to follow shortly after.

I wish Samsung would just come and say, "We killed the 15" Series 9 due to lack of demand" or something.
I'm glad I changed vendors. See ya Samsung. The last thing I would EVER buy is the new touch screen 13". Kiss my ATIV. -

This one has a few more specs ATIV Book 9 Plus and Book 9 Lite - Samsung Mobile Press
256GB SSD max?
Let's hope we'll see a non touch NP900X3G or NP930X3G in the future, like Sony did with their Haswell Pro line. Although I doubt they would get back to FHD. -
John Ratsey said: ↑We can see that they have added a security slot. However, it appears that they didn't listen to the requests to provide a mini DisplayPort instead of the mini VGA dongle port.
I'll just get the 480GB Crucial M500 mSATA (when it finally becomes available) and expect my X4C to keep running. I don't want to go back to a 14" screen with its smaller pixels and I don't want the extra size of the 15.6" notebooks.

Looks like there is an 8GB option this time. Would've it have been so difficult to put that motherboard in the current model, even the 1080p one? That, a better wifi card, and pci ssd would've made a great machine, though not as flashy I suppose. If they truly have dropped the matte option and the 15" in favor of these touch screens, it's a shame. And the 9 Lite is brand dilution pure and simple, no class there. May just have to stick with my X3B, if it ever gets repaired. -
According to Anandtech, Samsung will be using a 6Gbps SATA M.2 drive.
Internally, there's a familiar refrain: Core i5-4200U (Haswell ULT), DDR3L and an SSD. Like the ATIV Q, the SSD in this case is one of Samsung's own - the MZNTD128HAGM, a 6Gbps SATA M.2 drive. The machine ships with an integrated 55Wh battery and weighs 1.39 kg. Samsung claims up to 12 hours of battery life.Click to expand... -
Price information begins to appear: 1.387,62 € and £1100-£1200
NP940X3G-K01ES i5-4200 4G 128G 13.3 T W8
Samsung BK9PLUS CI5-4200 13.3T 4GB 128SSD W8
BK9+ I5_4200U 4G/128 13.3 W8 -
Seems the base model is 4GB RAM / 128GB SSD. And with the M.2 being a new format, not many options for third part replacements. Methinks Samsung will charge an eye-watering amount for a 8GB / 256GB config.

DearSammy
Also seems relevant with the results of yesterday! -
I am very disappointed - the screen looks really reflective in the videos and it's also heavier than the older models. All I wanted was 8gb ram, now I'm not so sure whether to get this or not
-
I have created a separate thread for this and lets post our views here so that Samsung people could easily view our views about what they are doing.

I use the Apple 13.3" Retina MacBook Pro for play. Typing on it right now.
There are a lot of interesting machines shipping now, and obviously many to come with the Haswell chipset. I could care less about touch screens on a notebook clamshell device. That's what slates are for.
One of my big considerations for a purchase is the build quality of the device, and the ability to get service if needed. I'm not sure I trust ASUS for service. But I don't have direct experience with them. I like their products and they do continue to innovate. I like that.
Samsung continues to do odd stuff, but they did service a unit quickly that I sold on eBay. So I have indirect experience with them and my fears they'll fail have subsided some.
Apple still ranks high on customer sat for repairs, service, replacement, and doing the right thing. I have an Apple store right down the street so for me, they are a good choice. Love the Retina screen. -

Apple Macbook Pro 13 Retina...
8GB Ram, 256GB SSD, i7 Dual-Core, 2 Thunderbolts (with Displayport functionality) PLUS 1 HDMI for around 1500€
So i can use 4 (FOUR) indepent displays with more than 1600p Resolution... - Internal Screen, Displayport, Displayport, HDMI
Thanks Samsung for the decision NOT to bring up a new 15" Model with IPS Screen and MiniDisplayport, or a 13.3 inch with matte Screen and Displayport....
(I have a 2560x1440p Display here, which is only fully drivable over DP or DVI-D... Both is impossible with Samsung and also their HDMI "1.4" Output is locked for 1080p60 in Firmware - even if HDMI 1.4 could drive up to 4k Resolution and Intel supports it.)
Now just waiting a few days/weeks if Apple secretly refreshes them to haswell and then i will get one.
Samsung - I am done with you. Its a blame for not hearing to your customers ideas and stopping the production of ALL 900X4 models WITHOUT a replacement model. -
+1 for 15" matte
No weight gain over the current model, don't care about touch unless it means weight gain, 1080p would be enough, but qHD+ suits me well.
That's all I want from the new 15" Haswell ultrabook. If Samsung doesn't deliver I will cross-shop. -
Hey folks,
New here and looking for some assistance. As there doesn't appear to be a new Ativ 9 15" on the cards, I was looking at purchasing a "Samsung Series 9 NP900X4D-A04US 15" - Core i7 1.9 GHz 256GB SSD Windows 8" from the US, I live in Ireland. Has anyone any experience or misgivings about importing/using a US model.
Thanks in advance -
wulftone said: ↑*shrug*... To each his own. I could care less about Windows (or OSX), since I use Linux only (I'm a developer)... but I'd be happy if high-res, IPS/PLS, high luminosity touchscreens came to the 15-inch, and at least 8GB of ram so I can run virtual machines decently well. I want the touchscreen so I can test out a tablet interface for my applications without carrying around a separate device. High-res, so I can test for the highest resolutions and on down from there. I'm sick of 1366x768! IPS/PLS (and that nifty new 180-degree hinge they put on the 13-inch) so I can more easily show a group of people code and examples and UI stuff whatever from various angles, and across a table if I lay it flat.Click to expand...

I don't know about the newest desktop environments like KDE, Gnome shell or Unity (though Unity should handle it well: it works with different form factors). -
All the Gtk+ programs (eg. GNOME and similar) should definitely cope with it perfectly (as long as you set the fonts big enough; it even supports vector icons, and there used to be a few sets of SVG icons). I am sure some programs will have a couple of nasty nonstandard icons, but it should otherwise work quite well for you. At one point, it wasn't even necessary to set the font size since the DPI was discovered automatically, but that caused a number of practical problems (especially with screens reporting incorrect values), so that was turned off in X.org.
