    Hello,
So i received my NP900X4C about a week ago and I must say, it is a fantastic machine. I've had no problems with it at all except that I've noticed that my Ctrl key is making a loud noise when I press down the top half of the key. It sounds like some platic parts beneath the key is bending or rubbing against something.
My question is, have any of you experienced this before? And is there something I can do to fix this? I would rather not RMA it as I need it for school.
I've also looked for solutions on google, and some one suggested WD40?

Thank you for any answers. :)

I wouldn't recommend WD40. Anything liquid could mess up the electronics under the keys and that will require complete dismantling of the computer to replace.

No you mention it, I can create what is probably the same problem on my X4C. That is if I push down the left control key at the top edge then there is a delay and it springs up with a "clunk". Does your key make the noise when you push it down or after you release it? Is the a problem if you push down the middle of the key?

I would note that I also have a similar problem as I described above (ie the delayed "clunk2 with the left shift key). However, it doesn't happen all the time and I suspect is the result of pushing the key sideways when trying to also press another key.

My key seems to make the noise when I push it down and when I release it. It does not the noise when I press the middle of key gently, but if I press it just a little hard it makes the same noise as if I pressed down the top part of it. But the key does not make the noise when I press the bottom half of the key. So maybe the key has shifted(Or been misplaced) to the top of the metal cutout? This would explain why it making the rubbing sound, but it just doesn't seem very possible.

With the computer turned off push down the key and look carefully around the edges to see if anything is catching or rubbing together.

Okay, so I tried that and it does not seem like there is anything rubbing against the edge of the key. So it must be something with the non-visable mechanics under the key, right? Would it be possible to get access to the underside of the keyboard by removing the bottom of the laptop? Or would the hardware under the keyboard hinder the access?

You would need to dismantle everything. You will see an internal photo in my NP900X4C review.
