This week Samsung announced a new laptop - R410. It looks like an improved version of R20.

Specs are basically the same (ATI X1250M + Core 2 Duo), but the location of the ports is significantly more convenient, and it comes with a 6-cell (5200 mAh) battery.

It is available in silver or matte black. The lid is shiny black in both cases.

Thanks for this. I was wondering if something was coming since the R20 has been disappearing off the shelves in the UK. I await with interest to see if the R410 has the same agressive pricing as the R20 dis when it was first launched.

I've also got the User Guide off the Samsung website and had a quick look. The changed battery has resulted in more ports on the back. I attach the specs and some views from the manual. One very big change in the layout is that the Ctrl key is now in the bottom left of the keyboard. The dimensions are also slightly more compact than what I measured for the R20.

I await to see whether the 6 cell battery can deliver the 3 hours of battery time since the 4 cell couldn't quite make 2 hours.

In fact, R410 looks like a hybrid between R20 and X22.

Yes, it now includes S-Video out. I feel that new the USB ports arrangement is more convenient (I have a similar layout on my FS Esprimo M9400, and it's very satisfying).

The first R410 appearance on a UK retailer site? Arrival may be imminent.
I'm not sure if Santa Rosa and the ATI 1250 would coexist on the same board.

Yes, in stock and a more sensible specification:

It's a shame that they couldn't tweak the hardware and manage a full 3 hours on battery. Oh well, something for people to buy while they are waiting for the next generation of hardware to appear.

    Hello all

From the specs this does look like an R20 with better battery bluetooth and webcam built in.

which is excatly what im looking for next to a finger print scanner or a macook, for under £500 it looks as if samsung may have done it again.

I wanna get my hands on one before i commit to trying to sell my R20 to fund this purchase.

I'm wondering where the R410 sits on Samsung's roadmap. The R410 has the same internal hardware as the R20 but redesigned so the 6 cell battery fits inside. The R510 with Intel's new chipset gives significantly better battery life and is very competitively priced.

There is an R460 on the way which has nVidia graphics but, at the moment, there is no info about a new integrated graphics 14.1" Samsung.
