    Hi,

does anyone have any experience with the NP900X3C ultrabook, Windows 8 and Bitlocker? I recently purchased a model with TPM and Windows 8 Pro, and I'm wondering if enabling bitlocker is safe? I.e. will it have any negative effects on anything (being able to use the Samsung Recovery using F4, the speedy startup etc.)? Of course I am expecting a performance impact, but I don't want to lose any other functionality when enabling this. Reason why I want to enable this is because I use the laptop for business purposes, and if it gets lost somehow I want to prevent access to my data.

    Thanks.

I've used bitlocker on my np900x3c for a couple of months with no noticeable impact on performance or on battery life. It's as close to transparent as it gets! BTW, at the risk of stating the obvious, make sure you have a TPM chip. The A01 does not include TPM. The A02 (which I own) does.

I did the Crucial msata 256gb swap. Since the Crucial has hardware encryption, I decided to just add a HDD password in the BIOS, and then turn off the Windows 8 password when it boots. Assuming your hard drive has encryption, this may be an option.

Great. Mine does have TPM. Do you know if the Samsung recovery function still works?

    Thanks.
