    I need to clone and replace the SSD HDD in my NP900X1A. I do not want to send it in for 'repair', samsung made me purchase a Technical Manual last week, today I get an email the both print and cd versions of the manual are no longer available :mad: . I speak with them again asking for disassembly instructions, I get a very vague email with step #1 being 'Disassemble Bottom' #2 Detach batter cable :mad: :mad: :mad:

    I have the 8 main screws take out of the bottom cover. The bottom still does not want to come off, IF I force it I can hear come cracking so I didn't proceed further.

    Has anyone replaced a HDD in these laptops please post info on how to gain access to the HDD area, I would appreciate it greatly!

    @martinw79

    Took apart a couple of NP900X3A but not NP900X1A. I have attached a picture of the NP900X3A. There are screws under each rubber pad, 4 others (you can see the white holes) and two on each side for the USB covers. i.e. total of 12. Maybe you didn't get all yours?

    kalahari - thanks for posting, I appreciate your effort.

    I didn't see any SIDE screws, the USB covers that slide did have some little holes that had silver metal inside the little holes, but these were not screws, maybe I need to press them in?

    I would really appreciate feedback from someone that has this laptop.

    I spoke with Samsung again, they told me to wait 10 days before the Technical Manuals are in stock. I'm not at all impressed with them, seems they should try to help you due to being out of stock with their own manuals.

    To make matters worse, I'm now afraid the replacement HDD I bought may not work. I bought SAMSUNG 470 Series MZ-5PA256B/AM 2.5" 256GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD). Does anyone know if the connector and its size will be a compatible fit in this laptop?

    THANK YOU so much for posting this! Luckily I didn't open the SSD and can make an exchange. My important question to you is, I unscrewed the 8 points on the bottom but the cover is still stuck on there pretty good. In your thread you say "Removing the base is easy, remove the 8 screws under the 8 rubber stubs. Carefully pry open. I start from the area between the screen, easiest for me." - when I pried open, I heard cracking, not sure if anything was breaking apart or not, I was very nervous to keep going. Can you comment more on taking the bottom off please?

    Martinw79, after removing the 8 screws, there is nothing else in contact between the laptop internals and the base. I just pulled (with some force) and it came off. I don't remember if I heard cracking or anything. Just pull it.
