I am thinking about getting the new 17" Series 7 -- 770Z7E -- but have a question on how the on-chip video works. One of the main reasons I want to upgrade to this is to be able to drive a 30" LCD @ 2560x1600 using mini-displayport. Almost all my usage does not require 3d/gaming graphics, so I expect most will work fine with the on-chip video, saving heat, battery, etc.

Question: Anyone know for sure if the Intel graphics supports 2560x1600 as opposed to Radeon? (I looked on the Intel website, but struck out.)

Also, has anyone used 2560x1600 displays with these models? Have any comments?

    Thanks!

    :)

Seek and yee shall find: About 2/3rds of the way down this page: 2560 x 1600 via DisplayPort. And here it says that mini displayPort is good for the same resolution.
