I've got a NP700Z5B-W01UB (Chronos Series 7, Sandy Bridge generation) and have some issues with SSD install.

Got a Kingston V300 120GB SSD. Swapping out the HDD for the SSD and attempting to boot, and it detects SSD in BIOS. However, when I attempt to install the windows installer fails to detect.

I've then tried detecting the SSD in an external enclosure and it doesn't show up in diskpart or Disk Management (though I've swapped the HDD into this same enclosure, plugged it into a third computer and detected the HDD just fine). I've tried this on third machine in question, and it had similar results.

So I'm debating how I can get at the SSD to reformat it and install, but am stumped.

It might be that the Windows installer cannot recognize the SSD due to drivers. There are options to install drivers for hard drives when you are at the partition window. Which Windows are you trying to install, and is it via DVD or USB installation?

Trying to install Win7, and by both DVD and USB (since I have my win7 CD, and used microsoft's own USB download tool to prep an bootable USB version from an win7 ISO.

Might your Z5B have ExpressCache? This has been known to cause installation headaches. The problems, and fixes, are discussed somewhere.

@winsettz: It sounds to me like that SSD isn't working at all; if it doesn't work, neither in your Sammy, nor in an external case, nor in other computers. I could simply be defect.
