I'm helping a buddy with a severely infected NP700Z5B-S01UB. I wound up completely wiping the HDD with Acronis then re-installing Win 7 with the original disk he still had. Everything went smoothly except for the display looking absolutely terrible even after several stabs with different drivers. There are vertical lines that show up as pink in white windows. The colors just looks off and overall very grainy...it looks as though the gain is turned way up when recording video. Very noisy.

I took screen shots and the problem does not travel to my personal computers/screens. The HDMI output also has no problem sending a clear image to my television so I'm guessing teh 6490M is finctioning correctly and it is the LCD that is giving me problems. The lines show up in BIOS as well. For the hell of it I again wiped the drive and installed Ubuntu - same problems although some of the ICC profiles did slightly diminish the lines.

Any advice/experience? I tried squeezing around the screen and hinges to see if maybe a connection is loose but nothing effects it. Is there a vBIOS update possibly?

I am not too sure of how well this is translating to pictures but it appears like as if it is a poor screen in mate finish or a mate filter over it.
