    Hi Guys,

I have been having problems with my 3.0 usb. I'm running win 7 64x, and have all the latest drivers, chipsets and bios from samsung site installed. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Asmedia drivers to get the 2 usb ports to respond but its a temp fix. Eventually the ports will stop responding and not recognize any flash drives or mice, it only charges the devices so i know it can't be hardware(hopefully). I cannot for the life of me figure out what is causing the issue and why it works intermittently. clean install does not help since the problem will eventually occur. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

Hi Sam. Welcome to the forum :)

Sorry to hear about your USB3 problems. I do remember a few discussions about USB3 problems, but not too many with your model. Googling site:notebookreview.com/samsung usb3 issue did find the following (which I should have remembered  )

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/samsung/715959-np700z5b-usb-3-0-problems.html

Other discussions (which you can locate with that same Google search) are mostly with Series 7 Ivy Bridge models or Series 9 -- both of which use different USB3 controllers.

Based on a very different context (see this post) I wonder if deleting and re-detecting the Generic USB Hub device or the xHCI Root Hub device after re-installing ASMedia drivers could make a difference. Pure speculation, though...

Make sure that you have disabled power management for the USB 3.0 hub in Device Manager.

    Hi Dannenmand,

I did skim through the samsung topics regarding usb and the generic fix of uninstalling and reinstalling said driver is what i found. I have tried all kinds of troubleshooting steps to resolve and at this point i'm looking for a more technical approach to implement.

    Thank you for helping

    Hi John,

I have unchecked all 4 usb hubs so they never go to sleep under device management after i noticed the issue some 10 months ago. Sadly what was a good fix than it makes no difference now.
