I am in Vancouver, Canada and wanting to get a netbook. Originally I wanted a HP Mini 1000 because it can easily be bought at my local Costco Wholesale. However, I want the NC10 strictly because of it's regular harddrive and its AWESOME battery life. Battery life is the most important factor for this netbook because I will be needing it all day for my lectures.

Also is it possible to install Microsoft Office 2007 on this? This is very important considering that I will be using it 90% of the time on this laptop. Since there is no optical drive, could I just use a thumbdrive and transfer the file to install?

And Most importantly, where can I purchase the NC10 here in Vancouver?? If not sold in Canada, I am willing to go across the border...so which retails carry this product in the US?

I don't think Canada has the NC10 for sale. Your best bet is to purchase one on ebay or have a friend in the US ship one to you (beware of customs tax).

It's definitely possible to install MS office 2007 since the NC10 uses the XP operating system. Depending on your MS office installation media, you may or may not copy the media onto a USB stick/thumbdrive for the installation. If you have a CD/DVD, you'll most likely have to hook an external optical drive to the NC10. If you've purchased office and downloaded it from the MS website, the installation file should be easily moved to a USB stick.

Do you know which American retails carry this item? I can't find it on bestbuy.com which is probably one of the electronic department stores in America right?

Best Buy only has a limited number of laptops available for sale. I know Amazon and newegg sells them though.

It sucks that ordering from Amazon and Newegg US while in Canada can't happen. I pretty much settled on this netbook regardless of the new products in CES 09 but can't seem to find a place to buy it.

I think I want to just go over the border and purchase it myself. Do you know big retail stores that I can go to? It would be so easy to just pick up a HP mini 1000 at Costco but the only problem is it's terrible battery life compared to the samsung and I don't even know when the 6 cell battery will be released.

The fact that it doesn't have a VGA port and that it comes with a slow 1.8" 4200rpm drive may also be good to note.

Design wise it wins over the Samsung in my opinion. I like the NC10 too though. And the girls seem to like my white NC10 a lot ;)
