i was just about ready to purchase the nc10, but then read on here the nc20 might be coming out soon. should i wait?
my hesitation to wait is, i'm just using the nc10 as a travel computer to do light stuff. maybe the nc20 is decently bigger that it will be more of a laptop then a netbook?
opinions?

I've been wondering the same thing. Does anyone know what the NC20 will have over the NC10?
-
It is bigger and heavier. On the good side it has 1280*800.
More details: http://www.geeky-gadgets.com/?p=9309
Some sources say Via, others say Intel Atom. -
I would get the NC10. The larger screen on the NC20 will most definitely make it heavier than the NC10, along with shorter battery life. In terms of pixel density, 1280x800 on 12" is a bit higher than 1024x600 on 10.2", meaning that fonts will be smaller on the 12", but you will have more estate.

The first thing to acknowledge is price. The tag will be 6-700$. When I bought my first netbook, I didn't want to spend over 3-400$, but upon further research and weighing, my mindset sort've shifted to the point where I decided 50$ over 400$ is acceptable but still over the budget.
That out of the way, battery life will most likely be slightly lower due to the higher processor, bigger screen etc. It will also be heavier, probably somewhere around 3-4 pounds. Most of the sites I've read stated it will come with a VIA processor, so processing power should be higher which is a plus. Not that it really matters too much unless you're playing graphic-intensive games. Though I've read that it will come with a slightly better graphics chipset, so you may be able to play slightly higher quality games.
The keyboard looks a bit awkward because there are gaps on the sides like a macbook, but that is just my opinion. The touchscreen is larger so that is a big plus. The bigger screen is really nice too.
You're also likely going to have to wait a while because the release hasn't even been acknowledged yet. There is not a lot of information on the system since John found links to the manual a week ago, so you are going to have to be very patient. There likely will not be a lot of support for esoteric problems so that is something to take into account, though probably won't be a big deal at all since NC10 users can give you feedback as they are still similar.
My opinion is that I wanted something small that I can slip in my bag and whip out quickly, that isn't heavy or a giant monster in my bag, and will also last a very long time. Something quick that I can type things on, surf the web, fool around with apps, and it would be discrete on my lap. Though I would have settled for an 11" netbook had there been one, as I feel that is the absolute perfect size, though no manufacturer has seemed to take on this task.
Anyway, I can't make any guesses on fan noise and heat generation. I would assume it is a nonfactor, but with a better processor I wouldn't swear my life on it. -
Final information about the Nc20 is said to be available the 19th of jan. (according to dutch forums).

There's a big selection of NC20 user guides on the Samsung download site.

Have you studied these John?
What I'd like to know is Via or Intel or both. Most websites seem to say Via, while a source within Samsung is clearly hinting Intel. -

Main Chipset VIA VX800
The Graphics chipset it uses is the VIA Chrome9 HC3 IGP. -

actually the manual states BOTH there is a Via nano available an an option the standard chip is gonna be an Atom i would love the atom but that Battery life is a mystery and that was the draw of the NC10

We'll probably hear more tomorrow as the non disclosure ends.
Sofar this Samsung has been accurate with his leaks and this time he was hinting at Intel Atom. I'm looking forward as to what will happen this time. -

why the hell is there so many optional? You are right thats why when i saw this thing said "optional" for nano i thought it was an upgrade from the Atom.....
-
Either way the Nano is great, IF you don't have to sacrifice battery life for it. I may consider one because the trackpad looks fantastic. The overall build is the ideal build I have been looking for in a 10" netbook but just could not find anywhere. I just don't like the empty sides of the keyboard looks. I would think they could have made the keyboard 100% size with all that extra space, but maybe it's to fit the trackpad. I also think the 10" is the perfect size but I can live with a 12".
