Hello,im a complete newb here so please be gentle lol.

ok so today i bought a samsung NC10 and i think its awsome, however i do have a few questions

ive sorted out the function key problem that everyone seems to have : )

but ive just put it on charge for the first time and i notice the screen flickers alot when its charging and im surfing web,it does not do this when its running of battery, just when it charges,it is really annoying

and also when i shut my netbook down it pops up with ''end program now'' box, like when you use task manager, the program running in the back ground is ''data card moniter''.what is this and its also annoying because when i shutdown it takes longer than normal to shutdown because its waiting for a response from me to press the ''end now'' button.

    thanks guys and gals.

Man your making me nervous, I'm going to receive my brand new samsung nc10 (white) later today.

I'll probably try it out when I receive mine in a few hours and tell you if it has the same issues or not. But right afterwards I'll be putting OSX on mine. :)

I got an NC10 SE from Amazon, but I don't recall having either of those problems. You may want to give support a call, because I don't think that is normal.

I've missed out on this problem. Please elaborate.

That's a power problem, either in the PSU or the power board in the computer. What happens if you run off the mains and remove the battery?

Do you have the GPRS / 3G module? Or maybe Samsung have put the software on all new NC10s whether or not they have the module. Something is running and not closing properly.

Problem #2 looks to be a hardware fault and I recommend you contact Samsung. They will probably treat it as "dead on arrival" which means that the retailer should send you a replacement. You put yours back in the box to go to the retailer to go to Samsung.

In regards to the slow closing of applications, a lot of people experiance it, but you can change the settings in XP to kill 'hanging' applications a lot quicker.

This process is the "Time To Kill" process. Have a look on Google! There are programs, tweaks and scripts you can use to kill off applications that hang - but beware that some programs hang because they are asking you a question. Say you're in Microsoft Office for example, and you didn't save a document you were working on. Shut down and it will ask if you want to save the document or cancel (back to the document). Windows is trying to shut-down, programs want to know what you want to do with them.

Have a quick look at the program(s) that hang, because they are either waiting for a response, slow at closing or have not been well designed - which is why Windows shows them as a program that has not shut down.

Have a go, but be picky with it!
