Hi guys, so today my laptop fans just decided to keep alternating between low and max speed as fast as they can, the laptop usually is very silent so this is driving me crazy at the moment.

Laptop is out of warranty, so bringing it to Samsung is my last resource, the fans go crazy on BIOS menu and Windows MemTest so I think its hardware related and not the windows install.

Is there anything I can do? I haven't seen any program that allows me to control the laptop fans

I think it's only one fan doing the noise, the other one seems to be functioning properly.
I'm going to open the laptop today, replace the thermal paste (even though temps seem to be fine) and check if the fans pins are properly connected to the motherboard.

I would also check the fan connectors. One wire provides feedback of the fan speed and, if that info isn't getting through then the BIOS runs the fan at full speed. Rapid variations in the fan speed could be the result of a loose connector or damaged wire. Before tackling the thermal paste I would remove the base and disconnect / reconnect the fans and then test the computer to see if the problem is fixed. If it isn't then start up the computer and put it on its side (screen open to 90 degrees) and manually move the wire(s) connecting the fan(s) to see if the wire position affects the fan speed. The problem may be the fan itself.

The left fan seems to be the issue, moved the white cable on the connector a bit and it seems to go back to normal, but I saw no clear damage in the cable.

Just assembled it back, the fan still seems to be a bit erratic, but still much better than 24/7 jumping between low and max speed.

    Thanks for the help! :)

It's most likely a bad connection at one end of the cable.

You might want to consider getting a new fan or two - stocks of parts appear to be shrinking. See the items at the bottom of this list. Get the part numbers and put them into your favorite search engine to find other sources.

Maybe, I recently spent ~140€ replacing the laptop Chassis due to a broken screen hinge, kind of a bummer having too buy replacing parts again ;(

But well at least the laptop still works :p

Opened the laptop again, tucked away the fan cables as best as I could, no issues so far :p

    Thanks for the update.

You might be able to use a small piece of adhesive tape to keep the cables from moving and, if the problem re-appears then you know the likely cause.

I came across with the same laptop, basically i still have it, the fans were very noisy, more or less the same as my XPS 15z which I hate it because of this problem.
I decided to take it apart, it was clogged with dust and the thermal paste had to be replaced. I did clean it up, applied Arctic Cooling MX-4 and the most important think i removed each fan, I mean unscrewed the three little screws and pulled out the fans blade and put a tinny drop of oil in the hole, (hair clipper oil). I reassembled all back and amazingly i have the quietest laptop ever with twin fans.
