My NP700Z5B says it came with 8GB DDR 2 RAM...how many SoDIMM slots are there, and can I put in 16gb DDR3 ram?

IIRC the Z5B has only one SODIMM slot so your probable current configuration is 4GB on board and 4GB in the slot. You can chance the 4GB in the slot to 8GB which gives 12GB total.

If you want to check inside then the disassembly guide for the Z5A probably applies. However, you should be able to use CPU-z to tell you what RAM you currently have and whether it is dual channel. The SPD page should give details of each module.

Great suggestons and a time saver. Espcially the CPU Z . ALways appreciate the help John. 12gb is more than fine. Realized you can't put DDR3 in DDR2 motherboards because of pin count alone.
