Have Samsung Recovery Solution 5 on my NP-RF711 Laptop

Looking to make partition adjustments and wondering whether it would be ok to move
Samsung Recovery/System Software Folders from D: drive to a external backup/storage
    HDD?

Re-installed Windows using Samsung Recovery Solution 5 software a few days ago but
didn't have to reconfigure partition like I did first time I used it.

I have the same set up as when I first set up with the software on purchase

    This:

I want to keep the software with the recovery partition so all I'm asking is When
the software placed the folders in D: was the idea to only use that partition for
Samsung restore/backup purpose? Or can I use the rest of the space for other data?

Plus would there be a problem resizing that partition with obviously moving the
folders first and moving them back?

The ideal for me though would be to send them to an external HDD and use as needed
hoping that's possible as I would like to optimise performance on Laptop with
    partition adjustments.

    Hi DLineJ, welcome to NBR.

That D: drive is your data drive, to use whichever way you want. It will only ask you the first time you load WIndows how to partition it -- unless you use the Complete Restore feature in Recovery and click Advanced to change the partition size slider (but that will wipe everything on the disk).

You can also change partition sizes afterwards, either using Windows Disk Management or Minitool Partition Wizard. But DON'T change the Recovery partition. If you ask me, 271GB is awfully large for a Windows drive (mine is 48GB). Unless you use it for data as well, there is a lot of wasted space there.

If you used Recovery to save any images on that D: drive, you should be able to save them on another (external) disk. I am not 100% sure which folders the Samsung Recovery Solution Windows app creates for itself; that app essentially just piggybacks off the "real" Recovery software on the Recovery partition (which you can always load with F4 at boot) so I never keep it installed.

You can try copying the Recovery folder to the external drive, rename the one on the D: drive and test if Recovery will load images from the external drive. If it works, you can safely delete them from D:

As for the System Software folder, that contains drivers in case you want to re-install WIndows. You can move that to another drive as well -- or even delete them if you want. The original drivers are on the Recovery partition as well, and SW Update will save them again whenever it downloads drivers.

This is based on experience with my own NP700Z3A and what I've heard from others here. Admittedly, I am not familiar with your particular model.
