    Hello,

I have an M40 laptop which i have had for near on a year now bought it over xmas last year. Guaged on opinions in various PC mags in the UK and my desire not to buy anything with the word 'sony' on it...

overall very pleased with it, lovely bit of kit but...

it overheating and powers down a lot, only been doing this the last few weeks. Worryingly so, I have a few days of warranty left and might well send it back. I need this for work.

It sounds like a tractor prior to shut down, one of the internal fans , makes one H of a noise... I think its the G card as it powers down on 3D applications and some light games (worms fortress). The machine is a business machine used for presnetaitons and heavy duty 3D applications, to which it performas admirably, but of late not so..

note: I run a design consultancy the laptop really does fair well against itsw office bound borthers the heavy duty dual pro workstations. So it does get a fair hammering in terms of performance.

    Worried samsung M40 owner...
    any suggestions people?

not many people here gots a Samsung lappy, but anyways, my guess is the fans are all clogged with dust or anything else that can get in there.

To get access to the fans, i am pretty sure you would havta open the entire laptop and use a airblow canister and blow out the dust.

I would NOT recommend u to do this... just send it back to SAmsung and let them deal with it.

I think this will be a common problem with all laptops overtime because its hard or impossible to clean the fans compared to a desktop.

    Hope this helps

    Thanks,
