Its killling me, I have an RC512, I bought an open box policy one for 866, was playing with it all day and night, it kept dropping internet signals, so took back to bbest buy, they gave me a brand new one, kept same price. said enjoy, this one does the same thing, i've trouble shooted, googled etc, and i came accross people with the same issue with this wireless card all across the manufacturing board. I called samsung about it, and there tech is going to be calling me and possibly send someone out to my home to see and try to fix my laptop, but its the wifi card... i know it is, everyone with this wifi card has same issue,

it will work fine for 8 hours or 20minutes or 5 minutes, then it will completely drop signal, and its impossible to fix it unless you put it to sleep and awake it, or reboot the laptop then it works, i found a setting to disable the power saving feature where you turn it off because i guess it turns wifi card off when it wants to save power or w'e i turned that off,

I also uninstalled my 4g WiMax software /drivers completely due to fact, we dont even have that in alaska and i read that that could cause interference with my wifi card.

    any suggestions? heres similiar stories

So which WiFi card? Atheros, Broadcom or Intel? In my experience Intel are the best behaved but Samsung often use one of the others.

What sort of signal strength are you getting and have you tried with more than one router? Did you try moving the router to another channel (interference between routers can cause problems).

Did you check Intel's website for their latest wireless driver package? Give it a try. Samsung's version may be several steps behind.

I can't think of a good reason for Samsung to need to customise the WiFi drivers to get them to work properly on a Samsung notebook but you can always revert to the Samsung version if the latest Intel makes no difference.

Have you checked the basic hardware such as whether the antennae are connected correctly (although I would expect this to happen on two computers)?

does the problem occur on all power profiles, both windows default and any Samsung profile? Look under the Advanced settings for the power profile you are using and see what is selected under the Wireless Adapter Settings.

Otherwise, I suspect that the problem lies in one of the default driver settings but figuring out which could be a tedious task. Go to the wireless adapter in Device Manager and have a look at the Advanced page in the properties. Compare the settings with your other computer.

The other possible course of action is to start a new thread in Networking and Wireless forum.
