    Hi,

My Samsung X60 laptop which i bought in 2006 has suddenly decided to give me some grief..

basically when you power it on, all the lights come on... and stay on. Then, nothing else happens... does anyone have any ideas on how i can sort it out, or even what's wrong!

I'm inclined to go get a new machine as it's getting on in years a bit. But the fact that this machine still does everything i need it too makes me at least want to try and fix it..

here's a link in case people can't recall this awesome machine: Samsung X60 Centrino Duo Notebook Review - Laptop Reviews - TrustedReviews

    not bad for '06! :D

I would start by removing and replacing the RAM. Sometimes the contacts oxidise with time and removal / replacement restores connectivity.

Something similar may have happened with the CPU, but that is less common.

I can't find any on ebay (the most likely place for anyone dismantling dead notebooks to sell as parts) in which case you could contact the Samsung authorised repair companies (details on your Samsung country website) and see if they have any stock.
