I am a mac user ; but my friend came along and asked help with his Samsung 300e notebook.

I went into the BIOS,and foolishly disabled every drive, except the one usb drive I created the Windows 7 image on.

I have tried every F-key (onboard keyboard and usb) and read up quite a lot about this subject, but I cannot get into the f*&Dcing BIOS!

It is stuck at the Samsung screen, and then restarts...

Please, please can someone give me any help?

Samsung BIOSes can be problematic, particularly if UEFI is enabled (which wouldn't normally be the case if the computer was shipped with Windows 7.

Did you try tapping F12 a few times immediately after restarting the computer and did you try the CMOS clearing by disconnecting mains and battery and holding down the power button for a minute? Otherwise one of the unbricking solutions might help. Maybe reflashing the BIOS and resetting the defaults.

Originally it came with Windows 7 but this laptop was out when the free upgrade to windows 8 was being offered. Did the owner upgrade this too W8 or W8.1? If so UEFI could have also been enabled causing your issues.
