    Hi.

EDIT : Turns out i flashed the right bios, it was a driver from a battery wear checking program that was giving me the error.

I had a problem with my old P4 laptop of a brand new battery going from 0% wear to 15% in under a week! , so the first thing i did was run a check on my new notebook, for some unkown reason the program did not like my new bios!

I did a restore from the recover partion, back to the first time i swiched on my laptop and i get 0 errors.

    So everything turned out OK.

    Regards

    John.

You need an ISO file version of the (old) BIOS update, create a bootable CD and follow the instructions here.

However, Samsung don't seem to have published any ISO file BIOS updates for the new models so, assuming that they all have the same structure, you could see if you can modify one of the older BIOS update ISO files.

Alternatively, contact Samsung technical support and make them aware of the problem and see if they can offer a solution.

    Hi.

I tried disabling all startup in msconfig and the error dose not come up now, So i think it might just be Samsung battery manager that is giving me the error.

I am now going to turn things back on and isolate the problem.

    thanks

    John.

EDIT : the file is called "battery info helper dll" in MSconfig

Thanks for the update. Microsoft significantly changed the ACPI between Vista and XP.

The 06 is dated the 19/09/2008 and the 04 is dated 21/08/08

I would not bother at the moment, unless you fancy re-installing your os.

maybe the 06 is vista/xp and the 04 is vista only, i dont know, if you have a look at my second picture!

The MHZ2320BH result is very similar to what I measured a few months back.

However, it looks like the Hitachi runs a little cooler and, by inference, uses less power.

The HDD doesnt have a fan, only the CPU does. But the fan noise is really quiet, especially in Quiet mode.

    :)

EDIT: Thanks for the link John, Ive got a very good (warm) HDD then, that beats Seagates 7K2? :D

Well i know the HDD don't have a fan.... but my point was if the fan for CPU/GPU is runing at all when you are using it for browsing internet and so on....

Thanks for the update on the cause of the problem.

It's still a useful thread title since people sometimes have had problems with newer BIOSes. So this thread title should help people how to figure out how to downgrade the BIOS.
