    Hi all,

Two days ago my np700Z froze completely, so I turned off. From this moment, when I returned the laptop from sleep HDD led keep on and my laptop was unresponsive.

Today, there was a message in system tray with "Installing new hardware" message and now, the iSSD don't appear in device manager and obviously not in Easy Settings.

I've tried to reinstall ExpressCache drivers but nothing happened. Any advice?

    I've seen this post:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sam...ache-i-want-my-expresscache-back-edition.html

But in my case BIOS nor Windows Device manager don't detect the physical unit...

In the interest of better understanding your environment can you tell me the following:

    1) What is your specific system model number?
    2) Is this a x86 or x64 version platform?
    3) Did this occur with the factory image or was this with a clean install of Windows 7?

    Thanks...

    1) NP700ZA I don't know if it's S02ES or S04ES it has expresscache definitely. I update later with exact info.
    2) x64
    3) Factory image. I've also used Samsung Recovery to have the stock factory image with same results.

If I start the laptop y can't see iSSD in device manager nor in easy settings. If I suspend the laptop and start again I CAN see iSSD in both programs but after 20~30 secs it dissapears from device manager.

In fact, yesterday I tried to install expresscache driver and the installer couldn't detect SSD so I cancel, suspend and start again and the installer recognized the SSD and installed the driver. Seconds later iSSD dissapeared again...

The iSSD looks to have failed intermittently. Bring it back to Samsung.

I have the same problem. Everything was working perfectly then i updated bios, and now it lags alot when i boot and i can now see that the issd is missing. This laptop is turning out to be a nightmare for me. Any news about what to do about it? sending it back to samsung would really ruin my uni semester. :(

    Maybe you shouldn't use ExpressCache.

Lassern, have you solved the problem? Mine is the same! When laptop starts the ssd appears for a few sec then disappears. After restarting the it is still gone but if I shut down and turn on then it appears again.

It looks like the iSSD P4 is having hardware problems. Very flaky. Bring it back to Samsung! ;)

But it had worked well before I reinstalled windows. When installing windows I accidentally deleted partition from ssd and then created a new one but couldn't format it. maybe there is a way to format to its own format and it'll work as before?

I did format it with MacDisk and it does work with the ssd properly.
But it still can't be accessed with express cashe.

You must completely reinstall all EC drivers and Samsung Easy Settings.

I still have the same problem, and i have tried pretty much everything to get it to work with no luck. I realise that i will have to send it back to samsung, but as i am in the middle of the semester as an IT student, it is very difficult for me to be without a computer for several weeks. Does anyone know how long it normally takes before its returned from service?

Mostly 3-5 business day. All they have to do is to check whether or not the issue with iSSD can be fixed with software modification. Otherwise, you're looking at the entire board need to be changed in order to fix that problem. So depend on how far from your place to Samsung service center. I would say 1-2 days to get the laptop into the center, then they need to perform check for around a day, although it could be done in about an hour but they have other laptops too. If they have the part available and they feel that the board needs to be changed, so they would do that and that won't take long, only another day. So if they have anything ready, you could look at a week after you ship the laptop till the day you'll get it back. In bad case, they need to order the part from Samsung and it could take weeks. So better ask support how long does it take. If your laptop is running fine but missing the EC, then just ignore that part.

@Lassern: Just continue to use the laptop. Send it back when your semester ends.

Does your laptop also hang for several seconds after windows logs in?

yep. If i restarts the pc it hangs with a black screen for about a minute before the windows login screen appears, then that hangs for about another min before i see the desktop. Its really annoying and i really dont like to use it like this as it feels like my shiny new beautiful laptop is really rotten inside. :p
