Easy Software Manager - Anybody having connection/download problems?

I keep getting a download server error, partway though a download, or it will not start at all, anybody else.

I've been trying to download a new sound driver via Easy Software Manager for several days without success. Something, somewhere, is broken. Perhaps ESM has been given a corrupted path to the server.

I have downloaded the new sound driver without issues. Doubt it's a broken path given to ESM. Maybe it's a local server issue.

 

How could it be something that affects only the UK customers?

It just took me a dozen attempts to download the latest nvidia driver, it got to 54% and then i would get an server error, I had to delete the partial download and then start again, but it still took a few attempts, small updates download no problem, it`s the big ones, I have all my updates now.

I thought it might be a possibility that they use local download servers for customers. Just a guess, could be completely wrong.

 

I'm having the same problem downloading the new sound driver and i'm in the US, so I don't think it's just a problem in the UK.

 

i'm downloading the latest amd video driver at the moment but it's very slow... also, is the file is not available on the samsung website? try searching there.

 

I'm from Germany and I got the same problem. Had to reset the system to factory settings and tried again. I got very far this time but the problem still occurs. How do you delete the local file that has already been partially downloaded, so the download can start fresh, John?

Make sure ESM is closed or you might not be able to delete the files, also the files are hidden.

I have been getting "Disconnected from Server" all morning this software is junk.

I tried running ESM four times in the past 10 minutes. Twice it connected and twice it gave:



I've emailed Samsung UK support using the page here. Perhaps if enough people report the problem then they may take notice and do something other than tell us to reinstall ESM.

Also, so far Samsung Support only asked for the Version. And the telephone support just told me to switch it at the store, but how would that solve my problem??
And it's freaking slow when it's actually downloading. 250MB take about an hour or more, when normally it should take not more than 20 minutes.

 

Thanks John , also why is Norton`s an essential software, I don't want to use it, Samsung should not be pushing it.

I seem to be downloading at the moment 18% fingers crossed.

Same here. Once I deinstalled it my system went bat. I don't wanna use Norton, it's annoying and slow.
Besides that, did you guys have any other problems with the 700Z7C? I installed the latest Wi-Fi driver and the connectivity is a little better now.

Another thing: My wifi symbol keeps changing to the normal lan symbol in the info taskbar area. For it to change back again, I have to install the driver. What is up with that?

 

1. I agree it's annoying that Norton is being shown as essential, even when the user has installed a better AV product. You can stop it popping up as an annoying notification by customising the ESM icon in the notification area to "Hide icon and notifications".

2. You can find the latest Intel drivers using Intel's own driver update tool.

3. I suspect that ESM's update server doesn't have enough capacity to support all the connections. The situation is made worse because the downloads are multi-language packages where about half the size is for languages of which only one gets used in the installation.

Anyone still having this issue?
I sent mine back two days ago to get it replaced by a new one because the first one I got was kind of filthy (smudge on the screen, hair on the keyboard, scratch on the bottom) and because of the issues. I didn't want to risk anything. I just hope it'll arrive soon.

 

Getting a connection is still erratic. A problem with ESM connecting to the server does not indicate a problem with your computer.

Yes, you can manually get the downloads for your computer.

I hope Samsung reacts on the reports and improves the software and servers.

I know that the software failure doesn't have to mean that my laptop was broken, but I really didn't want to risk it. Also I had the wi-fi issue so the new one might not have it since some were ok. Chances are slim but I'm gonna take it.

 

Fortunately I've never seen this error (knock on wood).. wonder why.

 

But you also don't have the Z7 I assume.

 

Easy Software Manger says their is an new version v1.2.24.18 , but when it tried to update itself, it gets an error, and i cannot find this version to download manualy, this is really stupid Samsung

I don't have ESM installed on my laptop because it was connecting to Samsung while I was playing games (whenever I stopped playing there was a message coming from the ESM icon in the taskbar icon box for the want of a better name) , so I keep the download in my download folder and every now and again I install it and check for updates and uninstall it.

A month ago when I reinstalled ESM, I got that new version (Because the stupid thing just keeps on connecting to Samsung even when you try to install it on your laptop it checks for updates), actually I got it twice while reinstalling ESM to check for new updates, but today I got what you are getting an error message. Plus you can't download it manually either, because I tried downloading a fresh copy from the support page for my model and the new copy gets the same error message.


I'm thinking it might be back up and running sooner or later, no big deal, I can wait til they get it right again.

 

Does anybody have a working Easy Software Manger, ever since this update i get an error, even after a re-install, it`s totally unusable now.

I reinstalled ESM last night and it worked, after checking for anything new I shut it down and was about to uninstall it when a dialogue box opened up saying the newer version was available, but that crashed when I hit download.

 

I've just succeeded in getting the new ESM. It's giving shorter lists of recommended / installed software than the old version.

ESM 1.2.24.18

 

I've been having the same issue with the ESM... until today.

I just updated my ESM to 1.2.24.18, I'm not sure if it was pure luck or if Samsung fixed it, but after some failed attempts on opening ESM for it to crash after hitting 'Update' I ended up opening Easy Support Center and clicking 'Details' on 'System status', selecting 'Check for Software Update' after hitting 'Resolve' I was magically able to update my ESM.

I really hope it was Samsung finally fixing it, but if not, I hope that updating it through ESC helps you as much as it helped me.

 

Ok, updated finally. Seems ok now.

 

The fault had to be on samsung side, mine updating today as well.

 

I turned my notebook on today and it updated itself to the latest and has been working fine.

1.2.24.18 didn't last long. I just ran ESM and it offered 1.2.25.20 as a new update. It must have downloaded OK but, strangely, ESM doesn't list ESM as an installed program.

I just did a clean install can somebody post the latest easy software manger, the one in the link above requires you to register to download it, the one of the samsung website is old, and i keep getting the disconected message.
